What's the trade value of a growler of Pliny the Younger?

Agreed. Last year I know of a place that sells growlers of anything on they put on tap, which included PTY...just sayin'...

    This thread is pretty dead...

the OP didn't realize it wasn't going to be available for growler fills at the brewery and seems to have dropped the whole thing by now.

I mentioned earlier that other bars and such will have it on tap and might fill growlers so getting one isn't impossible.

And everyone has agreed that whale hunting two months before it is released makes one a douche.

    Deceased. Horse. Bludgeoned.

But, but, but....I want PtY in a bathroom-filled, half backwash growler man! Why must you harsh my mellow??

Shit, I forgot about half urine/pty growlers traded for nudies of Natalie Portman in back alleys...that part of the conversation should certainly continue.

I can probably do this. I know you love pretrades.

Explain the doucheyness to me, someone who's not an active beer trader, because all I see is a guy who found out he might be able to get his hands on something awesome and he would rather trade it than drink it.

Seems less douchey than those who live in select cities getting on BA every February and dropping humblebrags left and right about how easy it was for them to get PtY.

Douchey = pretrade, for DONG (most well known DONG, at that), referencing trading for whales. What's NOT douchey about. Honestly, I thought it was all just troll fun

Other BAs being more douchey doesn't make this less douchey.

Let he among us who is not a douche cast the first douche-stone.

I operate on the assumption all of you fuckers are trolling douchecanoes....life is much simpler that way.

Can somebody please elaborate on what DONG stands for? Please also use it in context in a sentence. Brownie points for references to Natalie Portman's ass.

    Draft Only, No Growlers.

I could have went and had that DONG but instead I stayed home and fapped furiously to cropped shots of Natalie Portman's ass.

  13. i understand what's annoying about this thread to so many, but i'm a little surprised at the outrage too. we're on a forum where the argument for cbs and king henry was "well, i only got ONE and it's delicious, so...", which was acceptable even though there were many thousands of bottles out there.

now, you just have 1 (maybe a few) growlers across the county, and those people will likely only get one, and it's delicious, so...

i mean yeah, of course he's going to try to hold people over a barrel for it. he should stop playing coy and people should stop feigning outrage.

  14. Is "douchecanoes" pronounced like the water-going vessel or like a lava-spewing geologic phenomenon? Thank you, and I will take my answer off-air.

Water-going vessel...at least, according to Patton Oswalt. :)

  16. Got it. Although, I do like the latter pronunciation/interpretation as well: a mountain-sized, douche-spewing entity.

I'm outraged about things that don't affect me all the time. Actually, I'm pretty sure the fact they don't affect me is the reason I'm outraged.

  18. Here we go again

  19. Oh trust me, if it was possible I'd definitely buy a growler for myself as well.

Ok, say he does get a growler of pty, how do those of us that have never tasted this nectar from the god Vinnie know that he didnt just fill a growler full of PTE and send it on its way? I think that is the bigger question.

Not really saying that this is what is happening, just making a blanket statement about any PtY type beer out there that gets put in a growler and traded. Who knows whats really in it. Just the beer gods and the filler

I'm not sure I'm outraged, but I will say that my answer to the originally posed question is: close to zero. The odds that it's actually a properly-filled growler of PtY are sufficiently low that I personally would not give up anything of value to get it.

I think the actual reason people are 'outraged' is there is an infinitesimal chance of getting a proper growler fill and the likely hood of shenanigans is high.

PTY growlers always traded high. People would willingly bend over for them if they were still available.

Expand the trade to include bottles of Pliny the Elder. Easy game.

Any bartender could do a covert Growler fill.

Still if it's legit I'd drink it with friends and be done with it.

  32. This sums up 95% of what is wrong with the trading forum.

  33. How would you have it ran?

  34. Forgot to say, I am the other 5%......oh, your thought was fine, it was putting it out there in black and white that was the sin. I mean, after all, if rarerdos or whatever the hell it was, was pulling whales, no reason you shouldn't be able to.

  35. Yeah it can fetch great beer, as it one itself imagine that. Dude get bee to enjoy/share/etc. If you get a PTY growler I would recommend drink it fast or if you insist on a trade, then get that growler out there ASAP. PTY will get you some great beer, then again trading locals also should.

It would have been like this, "How much profit do you think I can get from it on ebay ?" With followup posts along the way, to answer critics, that mention, voluminously, how generous he is with the beers he doesn't sell.
