What's your #1 rated beer?

Discussion in 'Beer Talk' started by raynmoon, Feb 13, 2013.

  1. Heady Topper is #1 for me, but it's not the easiest thing to find in the Boston area

    #1.5 would be Lagunitas 'Sucks'
    **year round 6 packs please**

  2. Heady Topper

    Number Two is tough though...

    Maybe AleSmith IPA
  3. I'm a San Diego IPA guy so I'd have to go with Pure Hoppiness from Alpine.
  4. Yes! Lagunitas 'Sucks' is surprisingly good!!!
  5. If you like 'Enjoy By' you'll love Heady!

    - I'll tell you what I do like year 'round though. Stickin a nice dried out Cascade Flower/Bud (grow them organic in the backyard..comes in handy 4 Brewin & whatnot) in my bottom lip like a dip of chew. DAMN, its awesome...chew on it a bit here there (I may be in the minority there), but..Maybe I know something you want to, or Not ;p

No I like it seasonal. It's so good fresh I bet if they made it all year it would sit on the shelfs and get old and stale.

On BA at least (from memory) Armand' 4 Oude Gueuze Zomer, closely followed by RR Consecration. There's a very good chance I won't have either of them again and that is pretty upsetting.

Actually, I have four "5's." I rate heavily according to style. So, my #1...

American Porter: Berkshire Coffeehouse Porter (nitro)
    American IPA: Hill Farmstead Susan
American Double IPA: Bear Republic Racer X
American Imperial Stout: Dogfish Head World Wide Stout (drank back in 2007...now it's insanely expensive)

Easy choice for me is Short's Cup of Joe and in a close second would be Terrapin Wake N' Bake. Could easily drink both of these daily and all year long. Hear that Short's? Year long, now start producing it that way. :)

Like most others, my taste changes pretty regularly (I am currently deep into Stouts), but if there is one beer that I clearly remember having for the first time and continuely impresses me...it is Heady Topper (sometimes the bandwagon isn't all that bad)!

I got a question..for some of you folks who only have ONE or TWO "perfect 5" ratings in the "gazillions" of Hads, on their personal rating list. (not tryin' to be a Smarta** or jerk..just find it a little odd)

-- if you've Never really had any beers that you consider That damn good to give a 5 rating (or just a damn near perfect brew)
...what exactly are you "comparing" yours beers with/to or waiting for?!
    That's just Silly...
I have a Boatload of 5 Raters on My list. I guess maybe I'm just drinkin 'em at the Right time of Day..the Perfect Time. ;)

    - bottom line, it's all about Taste..not a Whole lot else.
ya know how in the NFL, you could throw a Flag on Every play if you wanted..extreme example (maybe even odd comparison), but you get the drift.

Heady Topper and Abrasive are tied at the top. I don't have any 5's, both are scored at 4.83 for what it's worth which is why I don't do that many reviews anymore. But even without a score card they would still be my favorites.
  30. The only 5 I have is Pliny. Close behind are Double Bastard and Hopslam.

agree with two hearted 100%...actually i agree with both! two hearted has been my go to for years...and i finally found a spot that i can get it about 2-3 weeks from bottling...nothing worse than a gem like two hearted sitting on the shelf with a november bottling date(which is a lot more common than some think).
