17th Annual BEER (Brewers East End Revival) Brew-Off

ATTENTION HOMEBREWERS! B.E.E.R. will host its 17th Annual Homebrew Competition!

This is an AHA/BJCP sanctioned Homebrew Competition. We are actively seeking homebrew entries and volunteers. This year’s event will be held at:

We look forward to seeing our old friends as well as the many new brewers that have joined this year. This competition is open to everyone. Entries must have been made at home and will be judged to the 2008 BJCP Style guidelines. For full guidelines, head over to www.bjcp.org.

Ribbons and prizes will be awarded for:

​Brewer's Cup – Winning recipe will be brewed & distributed by Port Jeff Brewing Co.
​Best of Show 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
​1St, 2nd and 3rd place per category.

Entries will only be accepted from April 20, 2013 thru May 10, 2013. Entries can be dropped-off or mailed in. Entries will also be accepted at the B.E.E.R. April meeting.

The Awards Ceremony, Raffle and Chili Cook-Off will be held beginning around 4pm, and is open to the public.

Official Rules & Regulations:

1. This competition is open to all homebrewers. All entries must be brewed at home. No commercially produced brews, please!

2. All entries must be registered on-line. Entry fees are $6.00 per entry. Please make checks payable to Brewers East End Revival. If you are mailing entries, include the check in a zip lock bag.

3. Two bottles are required per entry. Bottles must be 10-25 ounces in volume, brown or green glass. Bottles and caps must be free of labels and any identifying marks must be blacked out with a permanent marker. Bottles with raised or engraved lettering are acceptable. Grolsch-style bottles and PET bottles with carbonators are not acceptable. A properly completed bottle entry label must be attached to each bottle with rubber bands (no glue or tape). Any entry not meeting these requirements will be disqualified and will not be returned.

4. Entries may be brought to a B.E.E.R. club meeting or dropped off at the above mentioned addresses. It is illegal to ship entries via The United States Postal Service. Entries may be shipped via UPS to: Bill Ports, 73 Stephano Rd, East Patchogue, NY 11772. If shipping your entries, carefully pack them in a sturdy box. Line the inside of the box with a plastic bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packing material. It is legal to send beer for evaluation, but to avoid questions from UPS, identify contents as “Yeast Sample” or “Kitchen Supplies” or simply “Fragile.”

5. Judges and Stewards are needed. If you are a BJCP Judge, an experienced non-BJCP judge, or would like to help steward at this competition, please download the Judge/Steward Waiver form on-line at www.beerhbc.org, bring the completed form to a B.E.E.R. meeting or to the competition. If you are not web-savvy, you may email Matt Bollerman (Judge Coordinator) at [email protected] A hot lunch and plenty of beer will be available to all participating Judges and Stewards. AHA/BJCP experience points will be awarded on an as available basis. Judges and stewards should make advance registration with Matt Bollerman. A judge registration/waiver must be signed or points will not be submitted. Everyone is welcome to judge or steward.
