A good Looker from a murky style. Almost pungent fruits are the Smells. Malts, hops, lactose and vanilla all come together nicely in the mouth. I typically am not a fan of IPAs, but this was particularly good.

Energy City has a cool looking website also. I may not get out to Batavia, but I certainly wish them well.

Thanks to nc41 for this one from his box from NBS BIF #8. 16oz bottle poured into 14oz teku. Poured a dark pink color, almost cranberry hued, with about 1/2 inch of pink head that had low-moderate retention and no lace.

The aroma led off with some berry scent, then was taken over by the Brett. There was a touch of fruitiness (perhaps grape from the wine barrels?) and very light oak. very similar on the tongue, and I maybe picked up a bit of the nelson hops.

The body was light, crisp and had a dry finish. Drinkability was awesome, kinda wish I had a few more bottles. some to drink now, and some to lay down and see how the Brett develops. Overall, a very, very nice brew. A must try if you get the chance.

Poured into a tall clear pint glass. Dark and murky golden appearance but a bright amber hue when held to light, with a very thick fluffy head that has excellent lacing and retention.

Exceptional smell. Grassy and floral hops upfront, with notes of figs, apricots, cherries, dates, caramel, and of course citrus.

Much like the smell. Has a somewhat dry, yet not too bitter aftertaste. Otherwise, grassy hops are the main composition with a sweet balanced body to go with it. Besides the notes mentioned above, I also taste gumballs, which seems to be something consistent with 3 Floyds ales. Feels really creamy smooth.

I'll be upfront, I'm not big on sweet imperial stouts. So the fact I enjoyed this as much as I did is a big tip of the cap to Southern Tier (makers of the Pumpking, aka the worst beer I've ever had)

Pours dark and nearly opaque with a dark tan head that dissapates quickly. Smells ridiculously sweet.

The name is clearly a nod to everyones second favorite girl scout cookie, and it tastes like having one with a cup of coffee. Which is actually pretty enjoyable. Coffee, dark chocolate, coconut, and caramel sweetness...this beer delivers pretty much exactly what it promises (except the sea salt, but maybe that just helps tone the sweet down a bit?)

Anyway, for dessert, on a chilly night...pretty darn good.

The name of the is beer for me, is an off-putting sounding. New Car Smell, I do not care for the smell of new cars. Chemical aroma with plastics and rubber no thank you. The label states "DDH" this is a distinct style of IPA. The beer is 45 degrees and served in a pint glass. The gentle pour of the beer produced a two finger bright white head. The head is creamy and foamy with fair retention. The head left nothing on the glass as it dissipated. The beer's color is SRM 4 yellow straw with golden hues. The clarity of the beer is a touch hazy.

The initial aromas of the beer are pine and grapefruit. Additional aromas are toasted malt, floral esters, bready, and yeast.

The initial flavors of the beer are pine resin oil, herbal, grassy and grapefruit. Additional flavors are toasted malt, floral esters, bready, and a touch of honey.

The mouthfeel of the beer is astringent and slick.

The body of the beer is medium, medium-high carbonation, and full finish.

The beer has these interesting flavors in the beer. I am not sure what I think of this beer. The beer has this slick mouthfeel like oil in the beer. The more I drink this beer I particularly do not care for it. The beer has a strong malt backbone and intriguing combination of hops. The IPA is different from other IPA's I have tried.

Mouthfeel is light-medium, CO2 is low but nominal. Overall an easy drinking O-fest that hides the alcohol well and delivers sweetness without being cloying.

(750 ml bottle, 2018 release... split and shared between two Chouffe tulip)

L: hazy red liquid, bit of foam on pour, but it slips back into a thin collar... a few specks of sediment did sneak in... no lace

S: rather malty pop up front, with perfumy citrus peel and sweaty Brett rushing up behind it... subsequent sniffs detect funky grapefruit juice and malty red wine... inviting if you like malt (and I do)

T: beefy-malty red ale, bitter grapefruit jolt on the edges, mellow funk coating with tinto-tinted cheeks... bit of wine-soaked wood in the aftertaste... surprising degree of malt up center, but not all that sweet aside from a subtle note of dark caramel in the middle... overall good intensity, long-lasting trails

F: delicately-fluffy exterior to its lightly-viscous malt interior... funk, hops, and alcohol provide a soft florescent glow to the back of the palate, kissed with a little tart tingle on the end... hits nice marks in plushness and attenuation

O: interesting twist on one of my favorite IPAs (which is really a hoppy red ale as it is)... was skeptical at the $16.99 price point, but I may be tempted to give in to another bottle... didn't turn out quite how I imagined it but was rather enjoyable - glad to have finally tried it after all these years

Ruby orange color . Just above a nedium body , just below average carbonation with an overall nice feel .
Aroma is dark fruit, malty, molasses, a little floral candy like smell.
Taste is definitely dark fruit and molasses first. Mild hoppy bitterness shows up in the middle and lingers in the aftertaste. There's a sweetness that is pleasant and not overpowering that works well with the mild hop bitterness.
Overall a great beer, can only have one at a time but its definitely worth trying

Picked up a sixer for the Modest Mouse concert with my brother last week. Not sure what makes it a "Summer IPA" but it does provide the more traditional dry, piney, citrus led hop blast that we have grown used to over the years. It looks and smells the part, and has a thick, oily mouthfeel that allows for a long aftertaste. Solid effort.
