Yet another British style. Stouts are black beers which have strong roast and burnt characteristics. The dark malts used give this beer a wonderfully rich aroma and taste. It is not hopped very heavily and oats are used in this particular style because they lend a fuller mouthfeel.

On tap at Brewer's Alley in Frederick, MD.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like heavily roasted malt, herbal hops, burnt notes, and chocolate.

This is definitely one of the better Brewer's Alley beers that I've had so far. It's not a worldbeater by any means, but it's tasty enough and drinkable enough. There's lots of roast, and a pretty high bitterness, with just enough creaminess on the end to prevent it from being astringent.

This is lighter bodied and kind of thin, with a crisp bite on the back end.

This is easily one of the best beers I've had from this brewery. This place has tasty food but the beer has never really impressed highly either of the times that I've gone.

The color of cola. Small head, tan in color. Wonderful nutty aroma then the head dissipates and so does the aroma. Nice brown beer / stout experience with some notes of caramel & malts. Nice drinker stand-alone. Even better paired up with popcorn.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Speiglau stout glass.

Look is pitch black with an offwhite head.

Lots of burnt sweet malt on the aroma.

Taste matches aroma, lots or sweet roast malt.

Nice balanced stout.

called brickhouse i believe, a well made glass of oatmeal stout, very old school, no frills, just a solid glass of true to style beer, well done from a brewery i had never even heard of before this one. its deeply black, with over an inch of tan head on it, sticking around, and with a lovely obsidian shine to it, really attractive pour. the aroma is lots of roast, a somewhat sweet middle, and a faint english richness that i cant tell if is from grain or yeast, subtle but a neat wrinkle, lots of character to this, the oats are obvious, earthy and grounded, with some coffee and dark chocolate character and just a little bit of sweetness. the flavor is the same as the nose, traces of smoke in the dark roasted barley, a richer crystal malt apex, and finally a long drawn out finish, classic, creamy and full feeling, but never heavy. there is minor oxidation here too, but i dont mind it. good bitterness, mostly clean yeast, and good depth of flavor, some chocolate malt evident too. well made beer, not overly exciting, but i could drink plenty of this. i enjoy the classics, everyone wants to add things and recreate them, but this is to style and right on.

A: Dark brown in color with a tan head.

S: Chocolate and molasses with bread notes.

T: Bread and malt with toffee notes, and a nutty finish.

M: Medium light feel, fairly aggressive carbonation, and a dry finish.

O: Overall not an amazing beer but something I could definitely see drinking in a brewpub somewhere.

Bottle at the table paired with the third course of the banquet at HomeBrewCon. Rich roasty chocolate and caramel with some earthy hops to counter. Creamy bubbly mouthfeel. Decent stout.
