This place is very unsuspecting from the outside, just a few picnic tables and umbrellas outside of what look like a queiet little restaurant. Walking in to this place is like stepping back in time or somewhere else. The low ceilings, dark woods, old bottles and cans and dark ambience with subtle jukebox classics playing are really something to experience. We went on a Sunday afternoon, so it was a little subdued, but this place is awesome. By far, some of the best bar ambience I have experienced.
We tried one of their specialty pretzels, a nice compliment to a beer. Service was prompt, and one thing I enjoyed was listening to the ladies behind the bar talk amongst themselves about some the new beers they have tried. We sampled a Lone Star Stout, a Gnarleywine, and a Kwak. Their selection is good, but not nearly as great as other stops. Too many main stream beers here for me, but greatly varied regardless.
The small food menu had some unique offerings, but I didn't sample enough to create too much of an opinion.
If you're near Rice U, you gotta check this place out. Just a cool beer bar you won't soon forget.

This place is fantastic. It’s small and rustic with all worn wood surfaces. The place doesn’t seat many people at all and only has a limited bar-bite style menu but the beer selection is outstanding and the vibe is perfect. Lots of local beers on tap along with a nice variety of high quality crafts from around the world. Definitely a favorite in the Rice University area.

This is nice place. Comfortable, homey, a bit rustic, right in the middle of the Rice University area. The service was a bit grudging but reasonable. Beer selection was good, even though my fist two choices on their list was not available. The food was pedestrian. Granted I got the beer companion which was mostly cheese (which I would bet came from the local Kroger). The hummus was good, needed a few more pita chips. Overall, enjoyed the draft Tank 7 and Chimay Dorsee.

Was really looking forward to checking this place out...
Atmosphere is alright, patio out back with some space heaters with wooden tables and benches. Its alot like little woodrows, but less cozy.
For having 100+ taps I was really disappointed at the selection, there are very few *really* good beers on tap and in bottles. They have a diverse selection of mediocre stuff that you can find everywhere. No limited releases or rare stuff.
I got a chicken and spinach flatbread pizza that was pretty good, the spinach and artichoke dip was good too, no complaints in the food department.
Ginger man is like a little woodrows with a few more taps, I really expected a better beer selection.
Its a nice place to hit up in the rice village area but if you want the best selection, check elsewhere.
