Served in a small brandy balloon, perhaps a bit too cold.
a)Dense, black hole of a beer, head of thin film that kicks up nicely when swirled
s) Caramel & coffee, slight spiciness, fruitcake
f) Fruit cake, with some slight preserved citrus peel tang, brandy.
m) Full palate, with a midweight body. Tingly tartness in there.
d) Excellent drink, but served too cold.

Jet black in the glass with a thin coffee coloured head. Nose is relatively tight with darks malts and a touch of soy. Steps up a gear or 3 on the palate; big, rich malts, more soy, some chocolate and roast. Very good complexity. Well underpinned with an appropriate level of fizz, preventing what wouls surely otherwise be a cloying beer. As per all the comments below this must be a very strong contender for Australia’s best beer (IMHO no contest) but at $14 it bloody well should be. Although perhaps different in style this reminded me of a Stone Russian Imperial or a North Pacific Old Rasputin.

Pours black-ish with brown-tinged edge when held up to the light. Virtually no head, but leaves yummy circle of lacing where the head would be.

Nose is very Belgian - rich and sour with a strong berry character and an almost brandy strength to it. Quite reminiscent of Rodenbach Grand Cru, only pleasant. Fantastic, even.

Chocolatey and thick on the palate. Has a sour woody character on the front but softens to very sweet and dark cocoa-rich chocolate towards the back. In two words, fucking divine. Such boldness and depth on the palate. Rich and delicious.

Mouthfeel is so smooth and velvety. Delicious.

Not a beer for every day, but save me Jeebus, what a beer!

assuming this is same as 'old baltic porter' tasted at redoak

a: dark color, nearly black, brown head
s: malty sweet fruits aroma with a very distinct smell that reminds me of gummy bears
t: sweet, rich malty and fruity taste, finished with chocolates. wow, lots going on here.
m: surprisingly a fair amount of carbonation, smooth and very easy to drink with a medium to thick body
d: although i haven't had many baltic porters, this beer threw me off for the style. that said, i really enjoyed its complexity and how smooth it drinks.
