An English style bitter with a twist that has won many awards. Beautifully balanced beer from start to finish with loads of flavour. A rich amber colour, good balance of hops, citrusy hops and caramel on the nose with a pleasant ‘crystal malt’ flavour and very rich with bitterness coming through.

Near identical head to the kolsch - thick creamy, whiter than white. Attractive nose; a well itegrated combo of sweet fruitiness and green nettles from the hops. Very, very similar characters to taste in the front and middle palate. The finish, however, is dominated by quite a fierce hoppy / bitter punch. Resin-like notes linger on the tongue for a long time. Might be a touch aggressive and blocky on the finish but kudos to the brewery for having the guts to deliver a genuinely sharp and hoppy IPA.

Reviewing the bottled version, after the on-tap version certainly (and righfully imho) gained good marks being able to get such a good beer on tap at the Opera Bar.

Pours a light gold/beige one finger head.

Strong aromas of passionfruit, likewise the taste, again as with the tap version. Balanced out with hop bitterness at the back palate, however the bottled version seems quite thin in the mouth, not quite to a watery comparison, but something just not quite right.

Still a good drop

Pours a deep bronze colour. Head is stunningly dense, white and generous and retains absurdly well. Nice haze in the body, not sure it should be there, though lace is pretty much perfect.

Appealing nose. Malty with plenty of floral hop character. Lots of sauvin on there and citric hop flavours with passionfruit. Whisper of phenols lingering at the back. Very nice indeed.

First thing I notice is that the mouthfeel is very creamy. Taste is pleasant. First hit of malt is caramel with a slight cream note. Hops come through a bit late and dominate the back palate but not aggressively. Fairly floral with citric notes and a slight licorice spice. Hints of splintered wood on the very back. A mild IPA but really pleasant drinking. Enough bitterness to be an IPA but really gentle, balanced and a nice, smooth texture.

I think this is a cracking drop.

From notes; Coppery in colour with a tight, firm head. Makes a difference drinking at the brew-pub, the hops are really fresh. Plenty of fruit and floral aromas jumping out. Big, assertive bitterness supported nicely by the malt. Very well put together and probably my favourite Redoak beer.

Tried on tap at the Australian Beer Festival 07, although I should really go and check out the place itself sometime.

Slightly cloudy radiant orange gold, with a very nice white head. Very nice, this one looks good.

Slight toffee crystal malt sweetness on the nose, and a big bunch of luscious tropical fruit. Sweet, but balanced with a pleasant bitter hop note. Very nice.

Taste is also good. It's supremely balanced - with a great fruity character, a sharp bitterness to cut through the potential cloying sweetness mid way through, and then it finishes with a receding, dry refreshing character. Mouthfeel reasonably smooth. Very good indeed.

Very nice. Very drinkable. This is a well balanced, well brewed beer. Great stuff.

Like a few before me Iw was damned impressed by this example of my sort of beer.
Dark rich and golden , pumping out herbaceous hoppiness.Plenty of bitterness that engulfs the mouth in an artistic fashion.
It has no rough edged dand , it maked we cringe thinking I just cant get this whenever I want it.
The 6.5% is lost in the fruity crispness and I would love to have a session of this one.

On tap @ Cookie as their "rotating tap beer"

Orange amber colour with a big thick head that persisted for quite while. Lots of lacing left right down the glass.
Big citrus fruit notes coming through on the nose backed up by a nice biscuity aroma.
Pretty much the same on the taste front. A very nicely balanced beer.
Mouthfeel was a bit of a let down, but still pretty good.
This seemed more like a really good APA than an IPA but that doesn't concern me. It's rare (basically non-existent) availability down here & price ($9.50 a pint) does though.

Brilliant. This is simply brilliant.
Dark amber in colour.
The nose/taste is of fresh hops, with a strong yet appropriate bitterness.... a hint of herbal "Swedish bitters", and touch of apricot at the back. There is a great malt balance in this, that really complements the bitterness.
I don't give 5's that often. This is thoroughly deserved.
