Style: English Bitter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 3.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
An English style bitter with a twist that has won many awards. Beautifully balanced beer from start to finish with loads of flavour. A rich amber colour, good balance of hops, citrusy hops and caramel on the nose with a pleasant ‘crystal malt’ flavour and very rich with bitterness coming through.

Unsure how this hasn't found it's way into the database before now.

On-tap at Redoak 12/5/12. Reviewed from notes.

Deep copper with a moderate haze. Head is stout and retains brilliantly. Strong sheets of lacing, at least at the top part of the glass where the head actually falls.

Moderate passionfruit and pineapple hops, some bready, savoury malts and mild cereal grain notes.

Light and clean toffee malts, with the fruity hops coming through, but a little more restrained than the nose.

Nice spritzy carbonation leads to a lingering fresh earthy pine bitterness.

Bloody good alright. Flavoursome, balanced and wildly sessionable. Could easily put these away all night.

Reviewed from notes taken during a recent trip to Sydney.

The beer is served in a pint glass and is a nice dark copper color with a very light haze. The 1/2" head leaves lots of lacing on the sides of the glass and while drinking the beer.

The aromas include the slightly bready malt with some tropical fruits from the hops.

The flavors of the tropical fruit and malt backbone are a reasonable mix of the fruit with the slightly sweet beady malt backbone. The finish has some pine and resin bitterness that leads to dryness and another sip.

The mouth feel is medium bodied and crisp with the active carbonation.

This is an OK beer that I could have another of during conversation of dinner, but that said it would not be among my top choices for a bitter.
