Cervejaria Sudbrack Ltda

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.80%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Eisenbahn Pilsen is a clean pure type of Lager, softly bitter and with a medium abv (4.8%). Golden in coler, it brings the true flavor of all malt beer to every glass. Its principle characteristics are the purity, transparency, and flavor which can't be compared to other Brazilian "pilsners."

355 ml bottle (exp. 06/2016). Yellow clear liquid, almost no foam. Faint smell of malts. Light flavor, the same way. No sweetness. Crispy, with good drinkability and light to medium body.

Light golden color with one finger head with low retention.
Predominant aroma of floral and grassy hops and some pale malt.
Mild sweet malty flavor balanced by a spicy felling and floral hops.
Light body with medium carbonation.
A light well balanced beer, traditional and faithful to style. No off-flavors and pleasant, but it does not have a strong character, though I liked the spicy feeling. I found the other Eisenbahn more interesting, though this generally applies to the style.

350ml bottle served in mug glass.

A: Pours a golden clear color forming a big white bubbled head. Small retention and few lacings left

S: Sweet grains. Very grainy. Grassy hops. Lager yeasts

T: Follows the nose, sweet upfront, sweet grains, Lager yeasts, soft grassy hops

M: Light body. Watery. Medium carbonation. Aftertaste is mainly made of sweet grains and mild hoppy bitterness

O: Good drinkability. Despite the good grainy taste, it lacks hops. Even being a German one. In a market full of Adjunct Lagers auto-proclaimed "Pilseners", it's a good surprise when you can find a real and pleasant one

Another one from the Brazilian Railroad, let's see how it goes...

Pours a very clear, deep golden colour, quite pleasant with plenty of streaming carbonation forming a soft and frothy head of coarse-bubbled foam. Lacing isn't particularly sticky, but otherwise looks pretty good.

A little Euro hop fragrance on the nose, giving a slight resiny character which mingles with sweeter tones of soaked grains and fresh bread. The hops do provide a cut point, which is pleasant.

Taste is a little more bland, although it stays very clear without and husky grain or yeast characters. Light hop bite on the fore, and a slight phenolic bitterness mid palate, very little on the back which leaves it clean, but without much interest. Feel is clear, but it just accentuates how little there is on the palate.

It's not a bad beer - it's drinkable enough, and it doesn't have anything offensive to it, but I expect more character in a pils, and this ends up tasting a little too much like a bland pale lager.

12 oz. bottle, thanks Jon,

A: Pours a pale yellow, with a small white head, average retention.

S: Medium smell of malt and wheat bread, grainy.

T: Grain husks and cereal character, dry bread taste. Hops are light, floral, and grassy and add a nice balance. Solid flavour for the style.

M: Mouthfeel is light and crisp. Low carbonation makes for easy drinking, quite smooth.

D: A good pils that is very drinkable. Just have one bottle of this, glad I got to try it. If you're in Brazil, check it out.

Single bottle from Costi Bebidas in Porto Alegre - RS, on to the beer:

A semi-hazy yellow color with decent head and retention. Although this beer will not soak you palate with pure flavor, it's light in flavor and feel, but has no nasty off-flavors like a lot of Brazilian adjunct lagers. Grassy, herbal, floral, and somewhat sweet. Oh, and it's easy drinking too, so go ahead and bring this to a Brazilian beach because it beats the hell out of drinking Skol all the time.
