One of the destination spots on the upper-west side if you're a beer lover. Here's why:

About twenty taps, with some not too impressive... but at least six of them are always very high-quality local brews. Also, they have a beer engine (a real one, not those imposters that have been floating around town) that pours fresh ale from Blue Point, Middle Ages, Sixpoint, et al...

Noted as a football bar, this place often has many expats in the finance and legal sector revelling to watch their favorite team play. Overall, it is a pretty raocous atmosphere considering the neighborhood. I've only been in here once during the evening, and it got pretty crazy.

The high marks for this bar comes for its service. The Bar manager, Chris, and one of the bartenders I met, are both very attentitive yet laid-back, a combination that is rare. I always felt I was taken care of while I was at this place.

Definitely pop into this place if you're in the neighborhood. You'll probably come back.

Great beer stop on the upper west side. We came here for refreshments after exploring Central Park and were rewarded with high quality offerings and a nice street front vibe on Amsterdam Ave. It didn't hurt that they made killer bloody Mary's for my friend.

I really liked this pace. I hear that it is quite crowded and frat boyish on the weekend. However, I went on a Sunday night and it was a great place to have a quiet drink in a low key atmosphere. Excellent selection and friendly service. They display the beers on tap on a rotating computer screen. The service was friendly. There is a beer wall of fame. I inquired and signed up. To get your name on the wall, you have to try 100 different brews. After reaching this number, you get your plaque as well as other perks such as a t-shirt, a growler and discounts on brews. I will be going back often!

This place is amazing. Great selection of beers, good food, and just the right amount of TV's to watch sports while you drown yourself in suds. Spacious enough so your not crowded, yet small enough to feel like the neighborhood bar.

Beware of the popcorn here. It's free, and highly addictive. You've been warned.

A: Located on the Upper West side. Slightly touristy but there are plenty of locals in this area. A myriad of ages too, 25 and up.

Q: The kegs seem to turnover quite regularly but there is no problems with freshness with their tap brews, bottles or cans.

Ser: The service was fine, nothing spectacular but nothing bad either. Pretty solid.

Sel: There was about 22 beers on tap, 1 cask, plus some bottles and cans. Some Clown Shoes, Brooklyn, DFH, Pretty Things, North Coast and Founders on tap. As for cans, mostly Six Point.

Overall this is a nice little stop. There are plenty of bars on the block but this one seems to be more of a subdued crowd. Nicely priced drafts as well. Give it a shot if you are in the neighborhood.

My first time at this somewhat-famed Upper West Side beer bar, even though I have walked by it a thousand (or maybe a million) times. The neighborhood is packed with bars, most of them undistinguished sports and Irish pubs for frat boys.

Keeley's is sort of a smallish space I can see being crowded on a busy Saturday night. Dark, with lots of wood, breweriana, darts at the end of the bar and a jukebox.

20 taps- nothing to get excited about but fair enough. Some nice local surprises- three Greenport Harbor beers (Black Duck, Ahtamatic, Harbor Ale), Full Sail Lupulin, Ballast Point Abandon Ship... also Dogfish 60 and 90 and one or two rarities like Lagunitas Undercover and Anchor Foghorn, plus some quality Euros like Weihenstephaner Hefe and La Chouffe.

VERY expensive! VERY. Dogfish 90 is $8, Foghorn and Undercover are $9. WHAT???? Fuck You, George. On the redeeming side, the Greenports were $5.

Good service, friendly efficient bartender(s). Too bad the Abandon Ship I wanted kicked right when I ordered it and after getting a taste, but hey, shit happens.

The bar is a little loud, both the music and the customers, but bearable. Sitting on the window tables looking at the rain outside on Amsterdam Avenue was very close to wonderful.

Didn't try food and doubt I would ever want to... menu looks like basic pub grub.

They fill growlers and update their menu on, but be aware: growlers are mighty expensive! I asked a growler-toting customer and he said refills are around $20, plus $10 for the bar growler. What?? Fuck you, George.

I will be back one day, I'm sure, but not anytime soon. Proceed cautiously.

Hiked up to the Upper West Side to meet some friends who live in the neighborhood. Nice place with a good, simple neighborhood bar feel with a couple of high tops, a 15 seat bar on the right and about a half dozen tables on the left.

Beer list is pretty solid. 20-ish taps and a cask, about 2/3 devoted to craft. I was happy to see Bear Republic Crazy Ivan on tap along with Weihenstephaner Hefeweiss and DFH 90 Minute.

We had a good cheeseburger and very pleasant service. I'd stop in any time I am in the neighborhood, though it's not good enough to make a special trip.

Located among the college/frat boy swillholes on the Upper West Side is this pleasant, and lively, pub, where thirsty beer lovers can find a convenient pint of something frothy, a big, sloppy cheeseburger and efficient service.

A moderately size place with an average size bar, George Keeley's makes for a fine evening, and if that evening is a Friday, the place will be packed, but well mannered and in to decent beer. No pretentions here. While I would not go out of my way to stop by - my travels to the city rarely get me to the UWS - it still is a fine place in a city filled with fine places - and a few crappy ones too, but we're not about those.

Oh, here is what I had: Victory Donnybrook Stout, Arcadia Starboard Stout and an ESB on cask.

This is my local. That said, there are reasons. I do not live around the corner ( much to my chagrin) but I do walk down in the afternoon fairly frequently. The staff is great. The food is good. Nothing spectacular on the menu, but what thy serve is quite good.
The beer selection is outstanding. They have a cask on @ all times. They always have a great selection in bottles and on draft. They have great games on the tv. and often esoteric games ( European football) The place is exceptionally friendly and just loads of fun.
Come have a pint or 16.

So I stopped in for Happy Hour last week on Wednesday, just to check it out. I live really far uptown, and don't always feel like going all the way down town to get a good pint, I read some reviews for this place and checked out their tap list on their website and decided to check it out.

A-So this is an Irish Bar, but with a different feel....They have some TVs that show sports/news/and maybe some television shows, but the sound is off...Dark lighting, and a very long bar with tables in the windows and down one side and it appeared that there were some more tables toward the back....definitively adequate seating. It appeared that there was a jukebox, but the music was really good, so I asked the bartender and she said that she was playing things off of her ipod (she was playing things like the Shins, Destroyer, David Bowie, New pornographers, echo and the bunnymen...I know I was pretty happy, better than most bars, well at least it was stuff I liked). The bar seemed to be a gathering place several tables of people having fun with friends, a group of people around a dart board, and people scattered along the bar.

S-The bartender was quick and prompt....I really did not ask questions about the beer.

The selection was great....the best I have seen north of Collin's Bar on the West side...I had an Aprihop, and a Captain Lawrence Liquid Gold...They also had on tap(I think that they have 21 taps) Dogfish 60 and 90, two other Captain Lawrence, Delirium Tremmins, Victory Hop Devil in Cask if i'm not mistaken....Overall the tap selection was great...I didn't inquire about the bottles.

Great Happy hour everything was four dollars(depending on what it was determined how it was served) except for Delirium was $8(all the time) and Weihenstephaner was $5 for a 20oz(all the time). I don't know about their pricing when it is not happy hour, but I would assume no more than $5 or $6 per pint/goblet.

I great discovery on the Upper west side.

Revisited on May 9th:
Same Vibe.
Taps that I can remember(not as impressive as my first visit, but good none the less):
HopWallop (cask)
BluePoint Summer
Penn Weizen Bock
SN Pale Bock
DFH 60
DFH 90
Two Slyfox IPA project beers(don't remember which ones)
