On draft at brewery, 11/19/07.

Medium golden yellow, decent head. Aromas of grain and corn. Slight hop character apparent, mild maltiness, bashfully parching astringency on tongue. Subtle bitterness on finish. Key words here are "mild" and "balanced".

Only flaw is its lack of boldness.

"A light and refreshing golden ale; crisp and clean"

Yup, this is the Bonaventure's version of a lawn mower beer. I wonder if I could tell the difference between this and a macro if I took a blind taste test.

Pale yellow color, clear. No head, but there was a ring of fine bubbles along the glass edge. Nearly no lace (minor spots).

Grainy, raw barley aroma. No notable hop nose.

The flavor matches the smell--chewy, grainy taste with a mildest of hop flavor only showing up on the swallow. No aftertaste. Very thin body with a relatively high level of carbonation.

A: Pours a clear gold with a one-finger white head that leaves decent lacing.

S: Biscuity pilsner malt with a hint of noble hops.

T: I essentially consider this style a Kölsch, and this is a decent example of the style. The beer is well-balanced between the malty grain and the light noble hops. It may not be your favorite style, nor is it an imperial hop bomb, but it's true to the style.

M: Light and well carbonated.

D: Like a good Kölsch, this is a great session beer.
