This place by no means has the best selection in Brazil. In fact there is hardly any selection. Bohemia's wheat and Schwartz are in the bottled lineup, but don't go here for the bottled beer, go here to witness the way a Brazilian drinks beer. The have consistently won Veja magazine's (similiar to Time) award for best draught beer in the city. It is served absolutely freezing with a huge creamy white head and the consistency of the beer is more creamy than normal as well. Brahma distributes the draught beer for this botequim. It is definately something for a foreigner to experience. We are all used to better beers, but I believe it would be a disservice to completely ignore this place while visiting Rio. Go for a night just to experience it. The atmosphere is great, it's a lively semi open air establishment. Service is super super attentive and food is really good as well (go for the bolinha de bacalau with pimenta on the side). Live life like a carioca and enjoy this quintessencial Brazilian bar.
