On tap at Pisgah on 11/28/09.
A - Medium to dark brown body with reddish hues and half a finger of creamy tan head that settled into a patchy, wispy veil, leaving swatches of lace around the rim of the glass.
S - Roasty aroma with a complementary chocolate presence and a hint of coffee. Lots of nutty character as well. Hints of vanilla and woody, earthy notes open up a bit as the liquid reached room temperature.
T - Flavor combines roasted malt and coffee up front, then segues into a dominant nutty character with a hint of astringency. Subtle chocolate and vanilla offer some sweetness, while there is enough earthy hop bitterness in the finish to provide a nice contrast.
M - Medium bodied and fairly robust, with a light syrupy texture, though perhaps a tad thin and watery overall. Mild hop bitterness with a hint of astringency on the palate.
D - Very good representation of the style with all of the requisite characteristics that make for a great American porter.

Picked up a 12 oz single as part of a mixed sixer from Ingles Spartanburg store cooler 5-4-2021 for $10.98. Canned 1-19-21; consumed 5-9-21.
Beer poured cola brown with a very nice tan head.
Nose is malty forward with a hint of chocolate and mild roast.
Taste is a classic well done porter with a robust chocolate malt base that is nicely hopped to balance and clean any lingering astrincency.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and pretty smooth.
Overall a well done straight up porter!
