A- Dark brown colour, quite hazy. 1 and a half finger slightly off-white head, very thick and persistent

S- Not prominent. A sweet malts base and a slight warming alcohol feel, perphaps a touch of dark fruits

T- Sweet as the smell suggested, a touch of esters/spiciness, dark fruit notes, a touch of earthy yeast feel

M- Medium to full body (average for the style), smooth and quite creamy

O- Nice drinkability for the style. Overall enjoyable but unimpressive

27th May 2012: On tap at the Lupulus brewery's restaurant, "Les 3 Fourquets"; poured into one of their 25 cl chalices after I'd had two glass of the regular 'Lupulus'.

This version is obviously brown in colour: well it's dark brown with a big off-white head at the brewery.

Good mix of flavours in the nose and the tatse: malty and semi-sweet with a hop bitterness never far away, yeast notes also adding to the overall effect.

Glad I had one.

75 cl bottle

A: almost black with a big slighly off white head which leaves some nice lacing on the glass

S: understated nose, smells sweet, some red fruits and cinnamon

T: sweet upfront, a hint of raisins and liquorice and roasted accents followed by a nice medium bitter finish and a spicy aftertaste

M: smooth mouthfeel and rather full-bodied

O:a well balanced beer but the aroma and flavours are too subdued to be blown away, worth trying though

Now 8.5 % ABV
Poured into snifter.
Hazy dark brown with 2-finger beige head, not very long retention. Smell is not very attractive - rhubarb, faintly fruity and spicy, cocoa, rather sour. Taste - semisweet, caramel, chocolate, fruits, cinnamon, not very good portion of hops in the finish. Expectedly warming and still drinkable, mild carbonation, dense body.
