I live in the area, and have been here many times. Very small space, & a bit dark, but there is some outdoor seating. Very good craft beer selection, & friendly staff.

The beer selection is wonderful. An always rotating, well-curated tap selection that is quite heavy on hoppy offerings. Lots of bottles available as well.
The food is unspectacular, which accounts for my somewhat low score. Decent bar pizza and burgers. Otherwise, the deep-fried fare dominates.
Atmosphere is townie bar, and I say that with love and respect. The folks that work there and those that frequent the joint are top notch.
Pro tip-if you plan on visiting near any holiday, especially one that involves a long weekend, better call first as they seem to close for not only the holiday, but those days that surround it as well.

A gem in the South Shore. This is a small bar with huge offerings. They have a hundred bottle beer list. You can sign up and get a plaque when your done. They have recently have had a lot of cask-ed aged ales which are always a treat. i recently was able to enjoy a Mayflower Thanksgiving ale(a combo of strong ale and dark ale in style), They also had Mayflowers unfiltered IPA which was a surprise. A gem! If you are in the area and are looking for good brew for lunch this little place has a lot to offer. (17 draft lines and 1 engine)

rare offerings I have enjoyed there: Sculpin, Several Scratch series,KBS,Ithaca Brute,Casks of Hop3, hop stoopid, W.bros joker Ipa...Just a few of the treats found time to time.

Year after year this places remains solid. Definitely my favorite, but I am not impartial. Still a must go!

I've been going to "Tom's" for over 15 years. The only weak spot was the occasional weak kitchen [things didn't come out 'quite' the way they should], but that has been address as of this posting and I dare say that 99% of patrons are more then happy with both the beer selection and food offerings.

The wait staff deserves particular praise for their attention to detail, customer service and professionalism. Tom hires only the best. Two mainstays of the bar staff, Richard and Heidi, have been at the Brewhouse for 10+ years and know all the customers and their tastes.

Service and value are always A1.

Smallish bar with plenty of tables and a great patio in the back for the warmer months. A good amount of tables but spread out well enough that you never feel like a can of sardines. A decent amount of TVs so that you're never not in sight of whatever game might be on.

Service is great and they are pretty quick and seem to be knowledgeable about beer. Always carry 99 bottles in stock and the taps rotate regularly with great variety.

Food leaves a little to be desired but its solid bar food and lets face it we come here for the beer.

Prices are very reasonable and I always find a reason to come back week after week. Highly recommended for any beer fan.

This place is a MUST. It's very cozy. A nice natural wood bar, lots of classic empties on the wall, the other patrons were friendly and talkative. I even got to sample a chili beer not on the menu! Also: GREAT out door patio with TV's for when it's a busy sports night.

The service was outstanding. My glass never got to empty, even when my friend and I were the only ones outside. The bartender himself came outside and asked us what we wanted to try next. He was also very courteous and had a great attitude.

The beer selection was awesome. They had flower power, sixpoint resin dipa, southern tier imp chocolate stout, and other great beers on tap. They have had kbs on tap too. They also have standards on tap (Sams, Harpoon). They also carry rotating beers from 100 different breweries (bottle).

I got a burger that could drown a dolphin and it was messy delicious. You can get spicy fries instead of normal for no extra charge. I have a good appetite and I ALMOST couldn't finish my burger.

After my huge burger and four top notch draft beers, my bill was thirty bucks. Enough said.

Stopped in here this past week after work with some friends. Parking here must be insane on the weekends, not a lot of parking spaces. Inside, it's a small bar, but it's cozy. Tons of breweriana on the walls, and a couple of tvs. Service was awesome the whole night, as our waitresses were quick and friendly. Selection was excellent too. They have about 15-20 taps, and 100 bottles. I had the Firestone Walker 15th Anniv, Victory Yakima Glory, and a pint of Blue Hills Red Baron on cask, which was tasty. Prices were anywhere from $5-$7 for a beer, so not bad. Food was good too. Had a burger which was cooked well, and the nachos were loaded. This place seems like a favorite amongst the locals, and for good reason. Plenty of great beers in a relaxed pub.

I have been here plenty of times and have done there 99 bottles of beer, so I have decided to do a review for this great establishment.

Atmosphere: This is a typical local bar with a lot to offer. Plent of beer and sports signs throughout the whole bar and outside in the patio area. Also, the hundreds of plaques with quotes from people that have finished their 99 bottles of beer. Their are high tops, 20 chairs at the bar, and a seasonal patio area that has patio tables and chairs and tv's on if weather permits.

Quality: The quality of the beer is great. Over 100 different bottles of beer and 16 rotating draft lines. I have been able to try some rare beers on draft like KBS, FW 14, and Sierra Stung that the owner was a part of.

Service: The service and good too. The wait staff and bartenders are very knowledgeable about the beer and the menu. Questions can be answered and you can find out about a beer very easily through a quick taste in a rocks glass.

Selection: 16 rotating drafts and a firkin almost every Friday. Plus over 100 bottles beers from around the world. Great stuff.

Food: Typical bar food, but really good. They always have specials and good bar grub to go with some great craft beers.

Value: This place is reasonable and keeps me coming back their to try out new and different beers. I will have to say that I love everything about the place and will keep going there for many years to come. Stop by if you are in the South Shore.

I have visited this place many times over the past few years. They have a decent selection of drafts that rotate on a regular basis. They usually have a few drafts that stand out among the rest to choose from. They also have an impressive bottle selection to choose from. It's approximately 99 bottles give or take a few that change every so often. You can choose to take on the challenge of drinking all of the beers on the list and getting a placard made for you and put up in the pub. I have yet to defeat this challenge. The brew house also serves some excellent food. Their buffalo chicken nachos are a must buy. I usually get them with extra hot peppers. Also they have some other good things like pub pizzas and sandwiches. I highly recommend checking this place out sometime.

I've been to the Union Brewhouse in Weymouth, MA numerous times and I would highly recommend it for a place to try beers that aren't found everywhere and also as a good place to relax and watch a game. There is indoor and outdoor seating (seasonally). The staff at the Union Brewhouse provide excellent service and they are very friendly making it feel like Weymouth's own version of "Cheers." It seems to be an undiscovered hideaway.

As far as beer selection goes, there is the 99 club you can join where you are given a card with 99 different bottles of beer on it (well actually 99 brewing companies-the actual beers change on a regular basis) and you can enter the "99 Club" once you've drank the 99 beers on your card. You get the beer crossed off each time you order a beer from the list. The Brewhouse offers at least 99 different beers on any given day and the selection is incredible.

The prices are reasonable and the beers are good. The food, however, leaves a lot to be desired and I wouldn't recommend the food here.

Overall, as someone who has been to the Union Brewhouse enough to be a member of the 99 Club and have a plaque to that effect on the wall of this locale, I highly recommend the Union Brewhouse in Weymouth. Check it out!

Very knowledgeable about what they are offering, and love to talk to you about the beer you a drinking, no matter if you are a novice beer drinker, or a major beer geek. Great selection, over 100 beer's and 17 rotating taps. "Beer club" which encourages you to try the all the beers they have to offer. Typical pub food. Good portions. Always served hot and in a timely fashion. Pizzas and apps served late. Love the location, get to hang out in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy great beer without going into Boston.

Probably fitting that I pick my nearest decent beer bar on the South Shore for my first review.

The Brew House is tucked away on Route 53 and while it looks absolutely tiny from the outside it's only slightly larger on the inside. But I've been going here for years and if you head here before 7pm or so there's usually not a problem finding a spot at the bar or grabbing a table. A parking spot may be much more difficult to get.

For the relative small size of the building there's still about a 20 seat bar and a good number of tables. There's deck seating during the nice summer weather. I've always gotten good service from the staff, they may not be experts about what's on draft but they're very attentive. The place is always good for a game or two of Golden Tee or whatever other video game they have.

Food is general pub-style, with burgers, sandwiches, steak tips and the like. I've always been partial to their pub pizzas which are generally just the right size for a meal out.

Beer-wise I find they have the best selection in this area of the state and turnover their drafts quite often. During the most recent visit they had 17 beers on draft. In addition to local favorites like Blue Hills, Wachusett, and Harpoon they also had Dale's, Berkshire Brewing Steel Rail, and Troegs. I had a Southern Tier Harvest (is it fall already?), a Lake Placid Ubu (very impressive), and a Clown Shoes Eagle Claw Fist, (an IPA disguised as an amber). I've never been disappointed with their draft list here. They also have their 99 bottle list, but I usually don't get past the drafts.

As a local to the area I hate to go more than a week or two without stopping in because I never know what they may have on draft.

One of my favorite haunts. Very small but comfortable with a very friendly vibe. Only stop in every 3 months or so but the bartender always remembers my name and my I.P.A. and Belgian preferences.
Always a great selection on tap and very reasonable prices.
Food is standard pub fare but the pizza are pretty good if ordered well done.
Over all I would recommend this bar to anyone with out a moments hesitation.
On my last visit a enjoyed a couple 12oz serving of 10 commandments from lost abbey. Also finished off the visit with an I.P.A. from blue hills brewing. Lots of citrus flavor from the amarillo hops .

Hit this lace up with tigg924 on 3/31

It's a good thing that I was following tigg924 as in all likely hood, I would have blown right past this place. Small establishment, tucked up on a hill. From the outside, it looks really small. Once you're inside, it's still small but there is a decent sized bar and bar tables all around. There is also a nice patio area out back with several more seats. There are 4 or 5 different tv's in the place so this seems like a cool place to catch the game.

There are, as advertised, 99 bottles on tap - some decent selections a good deal of local brews and a nice assortment of others, Troegs, Weyerbacher were the only two that I really made a note of. I was more focused on their tap list. They have 17 or 18 beers on tap and nothing to lift your nose about. I had checked out the website before coming and that thing is WAY out of date! On tap last night was - KBS, ABV Anniversary, Lake Placid IPA, Bluehills Red Baron, Mayflower IPA, Ithaca Ground Break and several others.

Food is decent. Go in knowing that it is pub food. It's not a bowl you over menu, they have a page of apps, pizza's, sandwhiches, and burgers. Tigg924 got a burger and fries, I got the Steak Quesidillla, The food is quite good, the portions are beyond reasonable, and for pub food - it smelled REALLY good.

Service was good. Our waitress was attentive, and made sure to refill our pints whenever necessary.

As tigg said, this really is a hidden gem on the south shore!

My favorite south shore haunt. Union is a neat little place (I stress little) with a large beer selection. Due to it's lack of size Union can be crowded during winter weekends but in the summer an outdoor patio doubles it's size. The Owner Tom is extremely friendly and sets the atmospheric tone. There are ample tvs inside and out playing pertinent sporting events and music volume can always be talked over.

Service is generally good. Servers are polite and attentive but there is one waitress there who is particularly awful. She doesn't know beer, doesn't know what's on tap, she doesn't even know what's in a salad (is it mescaline or iceberg, c'mon now!) but at least she's friendly. I don't mean to rate the service based on one server but she's often the only server on weekend nights which drags down the impression of the whole bar. I think she tries at least.

The tap selection is fairly large (12ish?) but can lean heavy towards one style or another. Christmas time I couldn't find anything to my taste because it was all winter warmers. 99 bottles make up for any discrepancies with the draft list. However the way the bottle list is printed is that it gives the brewery, not the beer. This makes selection maddeningly and unnecessarily difficult. Every Friday in the summer is Firkin Friday during which a real ale is tapped. Firkins range from locals (Mayflower, Berkshire) to more uncommon casks (Allagash 4, Dogfish 75 minute).

Food is slightly better than average bar food.

Went there last Thursday and was impressed. This is a cozy little bar that has lots of beer paraphernalia on the walls. The crowd appeared to be mostly locals. There was a great mix of people from all walks of life. The service was really attentive and I was promptly asked if I wanted a refill as soon as my brew was done. The food is simplistic but tasty. The wings, fries, and burgers there were big and tasty, but beyond pizza, chicken sandwiches, and a couple more apps the menu is not much bigger. In terms of variety, there are over 99 different bottles to choose from. In addition, there are 17 taps. Caution--their website is not the most up to date. Call for the taps. They have some really good variety and several things you would not find on tap elsewhere. Most drafts went for $5-$7 for a pint. All in all, I think this a nice hidden little gem on the south shore. It has great variety, especially if you do not want to go all the way to the city. The relaxing atmosphere makes you want to hang out and sip a few beers. I know that I will be going back in the near future.

I was introduced to the Union Brew House through the BA forums and Beerfly search, and boy am I glad!

They have 7 drafts that always feature the same thing, and another 10 taps that rotate. I've been going roughly every-other week during football season with my girlfriend, and it seems like it was a completely different line-up each time we went! The beer always tastes like it should, so I'm assuming they clean the lines regularly, and the stock seems to be fresh since they rotate so often. Beers, more often than not, seem to be served in the proper glassware, which is always a plus. The only problem here is that they do NOT keep tap list on their website updated. Not that big a deal, but you should be aware of this if you visit their website and something catches your eye -- it may not be there.

In bottles they have an additional 99+ beers. Sometimes, however, they are out of stock. It is also a little tough to order from the bottle list since they only list the brewery and NOT the specific beer, but that just leads to me asking a lot of questions which the staff always seems happy to answer.

Food is great, but I'm easy to please when it comes to bar food. Really, it's nothing special, but the burgers are big and the grilled chicken sandwiches are tasty. It's hard to go wrong with wings, and the spicy french fry option is a nice change of pace sometimes. The meatball pizza was delicious as well.

Service has always been good, even when crowded (it is a very small place and can get quite crowded). Someone is usually there to check on you pretty frequently, but not to the point of being imposing. If my glass ever gets empty, someone is usually there to ask me about the next round. They also will give you a small sample if you ask before you commit to a pint. Friendly, attentive, and patient -- pretty much all good service should be.

Atmosphere is nice. It's a very small place, as I mentioned, but I feel they use space well. Everything is wood -- very homey looking. TVs for the game if you're into that kind of thing (I am). Outdoor area for warmer weather. Overall, very clean.

Two other things worth mentioning:
- The 99 Beer Club gives you a reason to branch out and not necessarily go back for the same favorites every week. Trying to drink all 99 beers is a nice goal to work towards.
- Prices are listed for each draft beer, if I remember correctly. I always like when bars are up-front with pricing. Some offerings are more expensive (or others are less).

The beer is what keeps me going back. That, the comfortable atmosphere, and the satisfying food is what makes it my favorite bar -- by a long shot-- in the area.

Great Place, great selection on tap and in bottles. The 99 bottle club is a fantastic idea, haven't started my card yet though. Every time I go there they have something new on tap and I absolutely love Firkin Fridays, where they tap a new firkin from a local brewery. The food is good bar food, with some good specials changing regularly. The staff is very knowledgeable about the current draft selections. I've even met the brewmasters of a few local breweries while there. I give this place my highest recommendation.

Updated 02/13/13...overdo!

UBH is deserving of an update by yours truly! Week by week, I am constantly amazed by the things that pop up here. Recently, they tapped a Weyerbacher 15. Cool? Weyerbacher has released their 17 now! The owner is a true beer geek and cellars some very cool stuff!

A few months ago he cracked out a log of Founders Backwoods Bastard, cellared since 2010! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!!

On Facebook and nearby??? Keep tabs on the Union Brewhouse (Official) page....

Psst, just told...tomorrow Chimay Special Reserve, Weyerbacher IPA and a few others get hung. They do a lot of 1/6 barrels so if you snooze, you lose.

Meet me there!

___

I am getting to be quite a regular, especially on Fridays when they crack a firkin about 3:30-4:00. Some good ones - Allagash, Wachusetts cask conditioed Green Monsta....this week is Rock Art Belg-IPA.

Service at the bar is good. 99 club is now by brewers so any Stone offering gets you credit.

I find best times are weekday evenings 4 - 6 PM or so.

The food is pub food. I am here once a month or so for dinner and always find something. Buff Chix wrap is good and they do burgers very well. Check out the meatball sliders!

But, it is really about the beer. There is something here for everybody (DF Midas Touch on tap right now).

Great place, a short drive off of Rt.3. Small enough place to feel you are right at home, they also have a patio area outside. Short ceilings, but great design on the bar - probably seats close to 20 (my guess). Good selection on draft, once I found out they had Green Flash IPA on tap I was all set. They also had Mayflower's Porter avail., which was great. Great place to stop if you don't want to stay stuck in traffic heading down or coming from the cape. The bottle beer selection is vast. I only had the nacho's and they were ok.

This is one of my favorite places ever. It has a great selection and their 99 beer club is a lot of fun. They really have a great selection of Beer from all over the globe. They have really great food too, some of the best bar pizza you'll ever have as well as buffalo wings. If you're a big sports fan they have tons of sports memorabilia everywhere. Generally the service is great, but there are a couple of waitresses that need "remedial training" but the ones who don't are great. If you sit at the bar they'll take really good care of you. The only tough part is it's not very big so sometimes you have to park across the street because the lot is very small, and every once and while a different sort of crowd comes and a "club scene" tends to happen, so every once and awhile you don't know what your walking into, but it sure is a great place overall.
