Had this great beer on a recent trip to Rio De Janeiro. Had it in an ice cold can as well as an ice cold draft (choppe as they call it). Ice cold is the only way beer will be served to you in Brazil. It was brought to my beach chair for only 2 Reais (roughly 95 cents U.S.) Smooth and refreshing without tasting like a light beer. Kinda reminds me of a Busch beer but with a better taste. Now before you go and write off this review because of the Busch reference, imagine yourself on Ipanema Beach surrounded by literally hundreds and hundreds of Brazilian women with perfect bodies wearing thongs. I think you could enjoy Busch then!! Remember most of the beer consumption in Rio takes place on the beach in 90 plus degree weather so a 6.5% beer is out of the question. Overall a great beer that you should definitely check out if you are in Brazil!

This is a good brazilian beer. It´s currently the bang for the buck beer in Brazil. The owners are the same of the old Bohemia beer, before the Antarctica acquisition.

Very pale, 4,5% ABV, etc, it´s a light beer for drink a lot in a barbecue in a hot day!!!
The bottle beer is better than the can.

This beer is smooth, crisp and light with hardly any aftertaste. Like other reviews had said, perfect beer for a hot day. Was on special at my local liquor store due to large brazilian community in my immediate area. Great summertime brew. Would recommend.

A - The look is average; pale straw hue, fizzy, and topped with a wispy white cap.

s - The aroma is basic, with a slight twist; minerals, sweat and the faintest cinnamon hint.

T - This is basic AAL, but there is a fruit nuance of honeydew or canteloupe which intensifies upon the finish, so it tastes a little bit better than average. Corn is not specifically noted.

M - Light and drinkable lager.

O - This is not a bad example of an AAL, and is a bit better than, say, MGD or High-Life.

The aroma is very light and unimpressive with weak malts and hops. The appearance is pale gold with a thin head. The taste is like the aroma which is not bad at all for the style. It's very inoffensive but that is not enough to say it's good. The palate is typical of the style. Overall this is an average beer.

Pours a clear gold color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of strong adjunct, pale malt, hint of sweet malt, and slight Euro yeast. Fits the style of an American adjunct lager. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong adjunct, pale malt, hint of sweet malt, and slight Euro yeast. Overall, an average AAL.

I had this on tap at the Sheraton Barra in Rio.

Poured clear golden, head gone in seconds. Bubbles can be seen from carbonation.

Smell was average. Taste was average. A completely average beer. All of the typical Brazilian beers have blurred together for me...I can't say much good about this other than it's super easy to drink. Another bland macro beer. Find the Bohemia Weiss or some other crafts if at all humanly possible.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light yellow color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains light caramelized malts, lager yeast and some hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of lager yeast and adjuncts followed by a light malt sweetness. There is a decent hops presence for the style that brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Smooth and a little crisp, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: A little tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, considering the style it’s not a bad alternative but overall it’s typical Euro-FYB.

Itaipava is like any other big macro beer/american adjuct lager. Pours golden clear with good carbontaion that provides an intial froathy white head that dissapates quickly. The smell and taste are bolstered by grain with some hop in an effort to balance the beer. This is a standard no-frills beer. Best drank when sitting on the sandy beaches of Ipanema.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very mild, a hint of corn. Taste is light, a corn presence, a bit of sweetness to it. Feels light in the mouth and is very drinkable. Overall I imagine this would go down easy in the Brazilian sun, but otherwise a mediocre offering.
