Poured a clear bronze color with a creamy and thick head; some lacing down the glass. Smelled obviously very oaky and malty. Tasted to me like sweet scotch whiskey, not like beer. I had to struggle to keep drinikng it. Drinkability for me was bad, as the taste turns me off.
Not only did I drain pour half of my glass, but did the same with the remainder of the bottle. This flavor is just not me in any way.

Don't understand some of these lower ratings.
This is an exceptional ale that is good on the nose as well as the palate. It blends notes of honey, malt and fruit with smooth aromatic hints of bitters.
Great beer.....get it....drink it....enjoy!!

This is soooo much different than the cask aged beers so in vogue in the states now. But it is so easy to drink. Pours clear light Amber. Smell is all oak aged sweet malt. Thank goodness no hops to overpower the the woody flavor and aroma. Malt is there but not too much. There's not much more to it. But easy drinking malty oaky whisky carbonated beverage is a-ok in my book.

I have never come across a beer that tasted remotely like this. It's almost an epiphany that has caused me to rethink beer itself. What the hell is going on here? I may be about five (other) beers deep, but this seems like nothing short of a revelation.

Liquid cake -- without being cloying.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Tiny streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, and some woody aromas. Taste is much the same with vanilla and woody flavors on the finish. There is a caramel sweetness that lingers on the palate after each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some nice woody aromas and flavors but the taste is quite sweet and sugary.

Pours a very appetizing amber with a soft, tan head. light carbonation. The nose is softly sweet with malt hints and some great oak notes. The taste is nicely malty with nice fruitiness down the middle. A wonderful alcohol & oak mix become prominent late. A great lingering woody quality that is counterbalanced nicely with light sweetness. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated. Semi smooth finish. A nice sipper. The lingering aftertaste sits nicely and allows you sit and enjoy while slowly downing this brew. A quite enjoyed it.

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #66 (July 2012):

LOOK: Bright brassy hue, tall order of foam

SMELL: Bready, buttery, toffee, leafy, mineral, wood, herbal, overripe fruit, warming alcoholic esters

TASTE: Creamy, smooth, buttery, malty, toffee, chicory, dried hay, toasted bread crust, balancing bitterness, bite of oak, vanilla, fallen apples; warm, drying finish

Original is right—on one side, it’s a straight-up malt bomb that is balanced by some hopping. On the other side is its strength and oak aging, which ends up being quite complex. A great pick if you are looking for something outside of the norm.

A - Pours clear copper with one and a half fingers of off-white head. Head fades pretty quickly and leaves only scant lacing.

S - Unfortunately, a bit of skunkiness in the nose. Beneath that, aromas of caramel, a bit of vanilla, coconut and oak.

T - Sweet malt, with caramel and faint toffee. Also vanilla and a bit of skunk. Prettt tasty despite the off flavors.

M - Medium slightly sticky mouthfeel.

O - Pretty good overall, but not somwthig I would seek out. Despite the slight skunkiness, I feel like I got a goodrepresentation if what this beer is all about. Pretty easy drinking, with sweetness kept in check.
