An explosion of aromas from Cascade, Centennial and Mandarina hops. Think orange, grapefruit and pine turned up to eleven. It's fully charged, hoppy character, is perfectly balanced by a sweetness from the Munich malt. We've spent more than a decade perfecting our craft, find out how at innisandgunn.com

11.2oz bottle - BBE Sept. '19 - poured into an IPA glass at 38°F.
*note* I've been drinking this batch for over a year, and it's just as good as day one. This isn't a typical IPA that degrades quickly. Keep this cold, and it will hold up like most cellarable beers.
Pours a Clear deep amber hue, topped with half a finger of sticky, loose khaki head with poor retention. Effervescence settles quickly.
Nose: Lots of sweet crystal malt which lends notes of fresh white bread, caramel, and toffee. The hops are floral and resinous like a classic IPA, with notes of green tea, magnolia, juniper, and citrus pith, but then there is this tropical explosion of tangerine, pineapple, and mango, really brightening the whole aroma. A thread of oak runs through, lending notes of oaky vanillin and coconut. Not super malty, not super hoppy, and not super oaky. Very balanced, with an intriguing tropical fruit bouquet.
Palate: The ale greets the palate with a significantly drier delivery than expected. The toasty malt is there, but between the hops and the oak, it's actually refreshingly dry. Gentle bready notes with some toffee and grain. The hops are classically Cascade, with fragrant floral flavours and resinous Northwest pine, while the Citra lends delicious juicy flavours of tangerine and ripe pineapple. Mild to moderate resinous boiled hop bitterness lends a gentle spiciness. The oak isn't terribly prominent upfront, but it certainly lends enough to immediately know this is something unique. In the finish, the juicy citrus and pineapple takes a back seat to the resinous floral, piney, and spicy notes which conclude a clean crisp finish, and then the white oak comes in - splintery and dry, and lingers on and on for minutes.
Mouthfeel/Body: At 5.6% ABV, the ale is light-bodied and crisp. There is nothing thin or watery about this, and there's actually enough malt to lend a touch of stickiness. Effervescence is lively and fizzy, and it goes down easy and clean. Very refreshing. Semi-dry up front, with a significantly drying finish.
Overall: This isn't some ultra-hyped craft release from the flavour-of-the-month American brewery, but man, this is a unique IPA. This was my personal default fridge beer for the summer, and it's difficult to find something as unique, flavourful, balanced, and crisp. It really doesn't taste like anything else, and I personally think it's very underrated. Fantastic stuff.

This pours a malty, caramel tinged golden. Clear, and brilliant looking. The nose is all barrel, with lots of whiskey sweetness. Vanilla, some toasted coconut, hints of tobacco, a floral note. It’s not a hop forward ipa in the least. I liked it.

Appearance: Darker, close to amber as poured. Slight haze, But you can still see through it. Came out of a bottle but I would have expected a more persistent head. Not much to it and it disappeared quickly.
Aroma: A lot of fruit aromas with I believe grapefruit to be the most upfront. Other citrus aromas are present. A little pepper also.
Taste: Plenty of hop flavor to go around but to me it is not overly bitter. You get the fruits that you smell along with the spicy, peppery flavor. That is actually more upfront than the fruitiness. Medium dry finish with a little aftertaste that is not terrible. What I am not noticing is a malt background which could just be me.
Feel: Nice crisp medium bodied ale with good carbonation. Slight alcohol warmth.
Overall: I was a bit disappointed overall with this ale. As an English IPA I thought it would have been a bigger more memorable experience. I will say it is not a bad ale at all. Also I will try this again as I purchased this at a large chain that sometimes lets its ales get old and does not rotate them out. I could not find a "Best By" date on the bottle so this may be the case. If so I will redo this review if appropriate.

It's a very good to excellent tasting beer. Don't get why it's called a IPA, but I live in California.

330 ml bottle into a lager glass.
Pours deep amber, clear but with a swirl of hazy sediment from the bottom of the bottle.
Very appealing aroma and flavor, with oak, sweet malts and hops in exceptional harmony. The hops bring mostly citrus (orange + grapefruit) notes but there's also subtle pine. Mild bitterness for style.
Feel: very smooth, medium-full body with medium-light carbonation.
