The colour is black, the two fingers head is pale brown and compact. It sinks slowly leaving no lacing on the glass.
The smell is dry and roasted with distinct notes of cinnamon, cloves, ginger and ginger snaps. Hints of cocoa and brown sugar.
The taste is sweet with distinct notes of Swedish “pepparkaka”, ginger snaps (ginger, cinnamon, cloves). Some alcohol and a touch of brandy. The spices get a bit artificial… Medium body. The aftertaste is drier with phenolic fat spicy flavours, Christmas sweets and a touch of banana peel. The short finish is spicy with some warming alcohol.
The carbonation is strong, the small bubbles short-lived. The liquid is somewhat sticky.
It is not as over-spiced as I had expected, but it does what it says on the label. Still there are some odd fat flavours and a lack of balance.
