330 ml clear bottle in cardboard box, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. BB date Sept. 2013. ABV is 7.4%. Cognac colour, slightly hazy. Small off-white head. Fairly nice sweetish aroma of spiced rum and oak, some vanilla. Nice medium sweet flavour, spiced rum, spiced stewed fruits, moderate oak and vanilla. Minimal hops, as in all Innis & Gunn beers, but here the spiciness to some degree compensates for the lack of hops. Probably the best I & G variety I’ve had so far

Scottish week at Lidl in my neighborhood a few of these scotch ales, I can say that all of this is very strong in alcohol and herbs, stained like brown rum smells like smoldering wood, sharp mint / burnt flavor, after washing in the finish
Think I'd rather drink a whiskey and I do not drink that

Beautiful beer. The spiced rum flavors really come through and provide something remarkable. I would go back to this anytime.

Bottled and they've gone upmarket & ditched the clear glass thank god but it's contents are still barely above average ale with little in aroma and flavour and not much rim either

11.2 ounce clear glass bottle. Aged for 57 days. Date on neck Jan 2014.

A: Pours a clear amber with a one-inch thick light tan head which settles to a thin cap and leaves splotchy lace.

N: Dark rum, mulled spices, mildly boozy, toffee and caramel malts, faint oak.

T: Sweetish dark rum, toffee, molasses, mulled spices, minor heat, caramel, oaky wood, faintly fruity, vanilla on warming, trace biscuit.

M: Moderate body and medium carbonation. Mellow, smooth rum and toffee finish.

O: Nice and not too strong for the style. Enjoyed.

330ml bottle. Pale amber colour. Large, frothy, off white head quickly disappeared and left no lacing. Dark fruit and caramel aromas. Pleasantly sweet taste. Medium body, smooth texture and a gentle alcoholic warmth. Would go down well as a nightcap.
