Stopped here while on vacation in the Gwinn area (about 30 minutes outside of MQT). Just down the street from Blackrocks, and across the street from TOGO sandwich shop, this rounded out the afternoon in town quite nicely. Beautiful MI beer selection, they had everything I was looking for. One of the ladies was trying to help me find something new from a MI brewery and even went into the back of the store to grab an extra bottle....worth the stop, I will be returning.

Whites will typically stock the best beer available in the area. Reading some of the reviews on here, even the one from 2004 speaks of distribution issues, which is a problem anywhere that far north. You only make a certain number of trips, and when you are out of something, you are out of it. With that said, they have a great selection to please any craft beer lover. They are heavy on Michigan Brews, with a rotating stock of the seasonal Founders, Shorts (yes Shorts in bottles), New Holland, and even Arcadia. They always have the stand-by Bells, as well. They used to carry Dogfish Head, but that has to do with some distribution issues as well. They stock a lot of home brewing equipment, as well as a decent, concise wine selection, and some good whiskeys, and spirits. If you are in the Marquette area for vacation, or for whatever reason, stop in to Whites and take a look. You never know what bomber of New Holland or four pack of Founders you may stumble upon.

Quality)
Although the store is small it is packed full of quality. They have many Quality beers, wines, liquors and Cigars. EVEN HOMEBREW equipment.

Service)
The service is great, I go in there very often and all of the staff is extremely knowledgeable about the beer they sell. I have never been in there and asked...How is this? and have never got an answer. It seems as though all the employees love beer and love passing it on to other "BA's" Also they do have some BA shelf tags which is nice.

Selection)
The selection isn't the best in the Midwest but is IS the BEST in the U.P. there are other stores in the area that has a decent selection but not like Whites. Those stores do not have the knowledge base either.

If you are in Marquette and looking for good beer hit up white on 3rd street.

The best beer store in Mqt., in my estimation, even though The Blue Link (formerly Jim's) had Founder's Kentucky and Devil Dancer when I last visited.

White's carries a decent selection of Belgian styles including Chimay, Urthel, Corsendonk, and Unibroue (plus U's anniversary ales).

In terms of local microbrews, they stock the usual suspects: Founder's, Bell's, Dark Horse, et. al.

They sell pretty much anything as a single.

There is an aisle for homebrewing supplies, but it's all pretty standard stuff (bottling buckets, cappers, etc.). Last time I was there, the clerk was helping a first timer and he was outfitting him well.

The service is friendly and knowledgeable, and the guy I talked to seemed to love beer.

In a college town, the help rarely knows the inventory as well as this guy did.

I came away with a favorable impression of the place (as well as some Hibernus Quentum and Kasteel).

If you are in the Marquette area and are looking for some great beer White's is the place for great beer. White's carries a wide variety of beers and sells six packs and individual bottles (12 oz., 16 oz., 22 oz., etc.). White's is also the only place that I know of in the Marquette area that carries home brewing supplies. They carry everything that you would need to get started and that’s the place I got all my home brewing gear. The staff is always willing to answer any question that you may have on home brewing.

This is definately a great store. Ever since I started homebrewing I have gotten all of my homebrew supplies from White's Party Store. Now that I am starting to get into All-Grain brewing I wish that they would stock more all-grain ingredients but I guess they don't have a lot of people who would buy them regularly. I know you can special order just about anything through them for those who do brew all-grain. They also have a staff that always has a lot to offer in line of homebrewing advice or suggestions on what kind of beer you might be interested in trying next. I have yet to be disappointed by any advice or suggestion I have receied from the White's Party Store Staff. Thanks Mike and Jeff. They also have a very large selection of wine. They also have plenty of great suggestions on what kind of wine you might be interested in if you let them know what kind of food you will be pairing it up with. And if you are a cigar smoker, stop in for sure because they have a great selection of cigars that are kept as fresh as can be. I've stopped in and picked up cigars as presents and have gotten compliments on they're quality. Overall it's a great store. I love supporting the high quality, small town business in my community. This one is definately top notch. If you live in the area or are just passing through, stop in and pick yourself up something good.

This is my primary choice for purchasing beverages, mostly since they are nearly the only ones in town that stock anything of quality.

The selection is not largest, but, it's thoughtful and the stuff they do have covers a wide range of styles and nationalities.

Staff is quite friendly and knowledgeable, and willing to look into getting things you request (which, for me, is quite often).

They have a couple singles coolers, and are willing to sell singles of things in 6packs if it's not in there, for a fair price.

One of the downsides is that they don't get new stuff in incredibly often, which, I have been informed, is due to the distributor, which is unfortunate.

They also have a good selection of wine, top shelf liquor and lots of stuff for homebrewing.
