Beer review from BA Mag Nov 2007.
While the distribution offices are listed in Florida, the Opa-Opa brand started off as a brewpub in Southampton, MA, and now has distribution points in both Massachusetts, Florida and Connecticut with the help of contract brewing in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Frothy rocky sea foam head stays thick and afloat even after several sips. Superb head retention here. The appearance is of a very hazy orange-amber color which is most likely due to the hops and minimal filtering. Slightly pungent oily, juicy citric and wildflower hop aroma with some sweet malt in the back. Big on smoothness with a moderate carbonation and medium body. Hop bitterness takes over the palate right from the start with a pungent oiliness, flavors of grapefruit zest and raw pine sap come to mind. There is some malt character underneath the hops, toasted biscuit and animal-feed grain flavors come through middle to end. The hop flavor just does not want to let go, even the finish is a long drawn-out encore with a semisweetness that is mostly masked.
Its great to know there is another east coast IPA that can hold its own to any West Coast hop bomb. This is some old school craft beer here--drink and learn.

From the 5 year old bottle, it pours a clear amber color with a large off-white head that slowly reduces as you enjoy the brew. Citrus in the nose. Really effervescent overall, it maintains a large head. Taste follows nose in that the hops are evident and reasonably pleasant.

Excellent IPA. This beer is well known. It has a great taste with a smooth drink. Medium body color. Just heavy enough to give it that full bodied taste. Always a fovorite

A good IPA, I guess. I shouldn't rate these though since I'm not a big fan of IPAs
