Pours a clear brown color with off-white head. Roasted malts, sweetness, and some light pine notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied for a brown ale. Finishes with toast.

Had this on draft at Easy Tiger in Austin.
I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. It's named properly - the chocolate hits you off the bat but not too overwhelming. Then you get the hoppiness at the end. I enjoyed it and I haven't really been impressed with the Independence brews I have had thus far.

Another well done beer by Independence. I feel like the name is a little misleading, and it says "dark and chocolatety" which it is neither. However, it is a hoppy brown ale, and a pretty good one at that. I think if you go into it thinking its a dark chocolatety beer you may be disappointed, if you go into it wanting a hoppy brown ale, you should be satisfied.
