Look is dark, espresso color body with dark khaki head. Starts with a finger and drops quickly to a thin ring. No lacing.

Smell mostly of roasted malt, maybe some coffee and sweeter notes, chocolate?

Taste is similar, the oatmeal and chocolate flavors show up much more, but the roasted malts dominate.

Feel is thick, chewy and long. Bitterness arrives later and even more cocoa notes.

Overall, very well done, and an absolute bargain. This is a very nice local stout from here in Austin that I probably walk pass a little too often.

Smell great in a snifter glass poured cold from a bottle but all I could taste was bitterness. I'll have to try it warm to see if it mellows out the bitterness any.

On tap at Zax. Short lived creamy head, but leaves curtains of lacing. Ruby tinged body, biting roast grains in both aroma and taste. Lingering dark chocolate on the palate. Comes off mild, but this is pretty big.

Pours a dark chocolate color. Has an aroma of oatmeal and chocolate. Flavor is roasted malts with notes of chocolate and oatmeal. Overall it's a solid beer.

Pours a massive head that fades pretty quickly but retains a nice thin brown-sugar colored layer that adds creaminess to each sip. Classic super deep brown color. Scents of sweetened coffee, oatmeal, and some breadiness is excellent. Creamy, weighty feel. Doesn't reach the level of Breakfast Stout (precious few do), but it's a rock solid stout that's worth the time of any lover of this style.
