eyes...
lovely rise of 2 fingers of foam, just perfectly ruby hue here, amazing color and consistency in the glass, a good amount of carbonation rumbles in the brew keeping the head perfect, the bubble wall is uniform and leaves gobs of lace all over the sides, fantastic looking beer, and now further in the head almost resembles the head on a Guinness pumped at a bar.. silky!
nose...
boozy hops, tones of sherry, some dry must, sort of reminds me of barley wine style stuff, pretty good nose
taste etc...
medium boozy with precise carbonation - just right for a brew of this weight, the carbonation is just enough to carry this thing and stops there, the ABV is detectable but barely, so damn smooth ! pretty mild bitterness but you can taste the hops, really well balanced wench
(must be the corset), it drinks like a souped up smooth mega amber in a way
verdict?
what's better than one wench ? well two (OK I went for the obvious...), I have always enjoyed the original wench for years as MA has been around for seemingly my entire tryst in craft world, but over the years their brews have been hard to find in the area so I was unaware of the double of what I always considered a classic... boy am I smitten twice shy here, fantastic brew, grab one, grab two - this drinks so smooth for 12% it is probably a crime (somewhere)

Lightly chilled 22 oz. bomber into a 33 cl tulip.
Look- Dense, creamy looking finger and a half of toasted coconut head, gobs of lace cling to the glass. Insane retention. Deep Amber-brown hue, moderate haze.
Smell- Dry toast, toffee, white raisin, lots of bubblegum. Light booze, nutty, warm spice. More rum-like as it warms, but alcohol not as noticeable as you'd think. Nice.
Taste- Similar to the aroma, treacle-soaked biscuit backed up by bubblegum and a black tea bitterness that's quite nice. Vanilla, lilac, hazelnut. Sharper, fruity at first but fades into burnt cracker and toasted cloves. Very nice.
Mouthfeel- Lighter than anticipated, but still pretty boozy, juicy rather than syrupy. Definitely above average for the ABV and style. Dry-ish finish with a hint of chalkiness cleans it up pretty well.
Overall- Another great one from Middle Ages. Approachable, drinkable, and well-rounded. $7.50 for a bottle is not bad, either.

A - dark amber with a big, frothy, off white, brownish head that has great retention
S - big malts, caramel, candy sugar, some dark fruit, piney hops
T - caramel, burnt sugar, faint tropical fruit like fruit punch, earthy and piney bitter hop finish
M - full bodied, warming alcohol, well carbonated
This is a pretty solid offering. It's malt-forward and reminds me a lot of a Barleywine. The maltiness is primarily sticky caramel and burnt sugar. The hops are also intense adding some fruit initially but then offering a huge, bitter finish to balance things out. The ABV here is rather well hidden except for some warmth in the finish making this surprisingly and scarily drinkable. This is definitely worth a try.

22oz bottle purchased as a single from Savemore Discount Beverage, Clifton Park, NY. Nice label.
Poured into am imperial pint, formed a 3/4" tan head over the cloudy reddish brown brew. Head is going nowhere fast, with chunky lacing. Aroma is green hops and alcohol.
Taste is sweet to start, citrus in the middle, and cruised to the close with a balance of rich grains and bitterness. Alcohol lingers after the swallow. Mouthfeel is wow smooth, and drinkability is superb, esp for the style. Hope this one stays in their lineup.
