What I had: Victory Festbier, Sierra Nevada Flipside Red IPA, and Peak Organic Fresh Cut Pilsner on tap, a few glasses of Coopers Creek Sauvignon Blanc for my partner.
What I liked: Beautiful, spacious bar with ample seating, well laid out beer menu, very impressive draught and cask list, fast service, extensive wine options, growlers to go, bartender (perhaps the owner?) was not only chatty and welcoming but also allowed us to eat take-out inside the bar since the kitchen was closed.
What I disliked: Aside from not being able to order any food, nothing.
Would I go back? Yes. The Ginger Man is a wonderfully cozy pub with excellent service and a top-notch beer menu. A mandatory stop for any beer geek visiting NYC.

I stopped in at the Ginger Man for lunch. We had hoped to have the Guinness Beef Stew (they were out), but settled on an Alsatian Sausage platter, which was also quite delicious. Beerwise, I was particularly interested in partaking of the cask ale (there were two). Ginger Man is large with an old fashioned varnished wood bar that is easily 50' and quite a bit of seating.
It has well over 70 functional taps offering a huge selection of high quality craft and import brews, as well as a fully stocked bar. It was relatively subdued on a Summer Tuesday at noon, but I have no doubt it gets very lively come happy hour. Would definitely go back (and maybe they'll have the stew next time).

When I visit NYC (once a year), we also visit Ginger Man. Nice wood bar with a sitting room in back. Servers and bartenders are always friendly (yes, this is NY). Beer selection is great in that you can local and East Coast beers. I had Hill Farmstead and Finback. Both beers were amazing! Food is always good (Ruben). From my perspective, this is a must visit when in mid-town Manhattan.

I can't believe I'm just getting around to reviewing this place now, as I have been frequenting The Ginger Man for almost 15 years. I had my 23rd birthday party in the back room (library), been to friends' parties here, among multiple other meetups over the years.
Expect a crowd almost any time you go. The bar is long with plenty of seats, but they are almost always taken when I have been there. Plenty of other tables scattered throughout the place to sit at though. It's dimly lit inside but it makes for a nice vibe.
You'll be hard pressed to find a much better selection anywhere else. There is something here for everyone, including two offerings on cask. On my last visit, I had Fabián 13%, a dry hopped lager from a little know Czech brewery, and Singlecut Keith on cask.
Quality of all the beer is great. The bartenders aren't overly chatty but they are busy so it's understandable. I love this place and it was always have a sentimental place in my heart. If you're visiting NYC and you're in the area, this place is a must stop for at least one beer.

So many brews on tap. It's a beer lovers dream come true. Huge bottle list as well. The bartenders are pros as well. Each beer in the proper glassware.

The Ginger Man, a NYC classic.
Dimly lit, but still airy and not stuffy, with a long bar and plenty of tables all across the space. Vibe is casual and laid back, and it's been quiet both times I've been here, early afternoon both times. Apparently gets quite crowded later on and on weekends.
Beer selection is second only to very few. About 70 taps and a pretty long bottle list means you're going to have to pick and choose carefully. Not really a problem since everything is of high quality and the bartenders do a great job with recommendations if you need them. Service overall is great, especially in the off hours, when they'll gladly chat with you.
Food was very good, had the pastrami Reuben. Very tasty, but HUGE.
Overall, one of the best beer bars in New York, easily. So much to choose from and a great vibe.

The Ginger Man is, without a doubt, one of the prime craft beer locations in Midtown Manhattan. My job takes into the city 10-15 days a year and The Ginger Man is almost always my watering hole of choice.
The interior is pretty the platonic ideal of the classic pub. Lots of wood and the expected pub decor. Every time that I've been there it's been packed or near packed, though I will say that I'm nearly always there around 5 PM on weekdays, so that likely accounts for some of it.
The selection is fantastic. 70ish taps, with a good variety of local, regional, and national craft, along with British, Belgian, and German highlights. Best of all, there's always two casks on handpump, which is what I tend to gravitate toward.
I've never actually eaten there, so I can't account for the food, but it looks to be solid, British-inspired pub grub.
Beyond the beer, there's an excellent selection of whiskey.
The service can be a little dicey, especially when it's at its peak business. Not unfriendly, just inattentive. Prices are high, but not exceptionally so for New York.

Great place, Vibe is relaxed but still classy, service is decent, although the bartenders are much friendlier then the waitresses, very good selection.

First time at the Ginger Man on November 14. Very nice space with high ceilings and plenty of seating. Huge tap list, although the offerings were not mind-blowing. Food was solid. My only complaint is that they need more servers - the table service was painfully slow.
