Not one of my favorite styles of beer but this was a beer the novice could enjoy as well as the advocate. Had the appearance of your everyday lawnmower beer. With a slight citrus aroma and a good smooth taste with a hint of citrus. This is a very drinkable brew that went down smooth and you could drink alot before you knew it...........CHEERS

On tap at the Prado location.

Pours amber with a decent head that leaves almost no lacing.

The aroma is less malty than hoppy.

Flavor: stronger than average for style due to the hop load. Still, only mildly bitter.

Mouthfeel: medium carbonation with a near medium body.

O: A solid, if relatively hoppy version of the style.

On-tap at the brewpub.

Pours a clear golden color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of sweet pale malts with hints of lighter pilsner malts.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Sweet malts with hints of breadiness kick things off. The malt flavors dry out midway through the sip with the addition of crisp pilsner malts, carrying through to a mildly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is OK. I finished my glass however I'm not sure about another.

Overall this was a good enough beer but it was lacking some crispness. Still, it's worth a shot if you like the style.

I tried this at the brewery. It poured a clear golden with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had faint grain. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink and fairly straightforward. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with subtle carbonation. Overall it was ok....easimy sessioned.

On-tap into pilsner glass.

Clear golden amber-hay color with an off white fizzhead, decent retention, with a thin cap. Stringy lacing.

Low lying grains with some leafy hop aromas.

Cracker like malts with some good balancing hops that lend more flavor than bitterness. Light bodied with good carbonation. The finish is husky, mostly clean.

Very good. Basically a malty, less hoppy pilsner. Very crisp and refreshing.

This comes to me in a narrow stein canary, with a minimal head and lace trail.

The nose of this beer is rather unspectacular, grainy malts, the faintest suggestion of noble hops, and a whiff of wheat.

The taste is clean, if unremarkable. Doughy Euro-malt, faintly bitter, finishing on a dry nuttiness.

This goes down easy and fitted the meal well but was not spectacular. I agree with a previous review that this was a rather poor (or at least pedestrian) attempt at a regal style.

A - Came to the table in a pint glass, staw yellow in color, possibly a little darker but that's the best way to describe it

S - Not much of a nose at all..just a hint of grassy hops in there

T - Was very smooth with a good malt up front, a bit bready and then had a very small hop in the finish to cut the sweetness..leaving no lingering bitterness at all..very crisp

M - Carbonation was good..clean, crisp

D - It's a drinkable beer..but certainly not one that would hold much interest, if you are looking to drink a beer which you don't have to think about it..this would be a good one

This beer has a surprisingly big crisp malt flavor. I wasn't expecting something quite this tasty but it was. Light citrusy hops add a little bitterness and make this an extremely refreshing brew without resorting to cheap brewing tricks. This is a very well-balanced light lager.

Possibly because I was comparing to their other high quality beers, but this beer which I tried within the sampler offered nothing.

It had little to no taste and had the texture and taste of a macro that was just flat out tasteless. Maybe it is their version to get to the masses that like the low flavor and lightness but I was really let down by this beer.

Not sure if its the style that I just didnt like or the interpretation but it just didnt do the job.

Gold color with a very mild haze--nearly clear. Modest head but leaves very good lace on the glass.

Grainy smell of spent grains. There is a mild hop way in the background.

This is very close to a lawn mower beer, but not quite. The flavor is light and grainy, like the smell, but the hop is a bit more pronounced. I imagine this is the right beer for the uninitiated to brew pubs. Of the flight I had, this was my personal least-favorite.

A weak interpretation of this proud style: they claim it to be a traditional "Bavarian lager".

Appearance is light, yellow, unremarkable.

Initial taste is corn, blah, thin, cheap. My tasting notes indicate "mouth full of corn - good corn, but corn nonetheless. Full bodied lager, but... ick. Boring." It was slightly over carbonated.

This just tastes like a cheap, adjunct-y lager, following more in the style of thin American lagers than Munich.

Summary: I wouldn't bother again. They have better beers, and better interpretations of German and British styles.

An excerpt from the brewpub's menu reads:
"What the helles is this beer? Helles translates to a 'pale' or 'light' in German. This Bavarian style is a golden lager with malty characteristics and less hop bitterness than a pilsner. Have a few and see why this is a popular style."

With a presentation of bright medium golden hue and a fading cottony white and tightly knit head, the beer shows a slow recession that leads to good retention and subtle lace as the beer falls. A very nice looking light lager.

Aromas of floral/flowery hops with a bit or earthy scent decoreates the mainstay of light cracker-like malt of slight bready sweetness and overall terse complexity. The nose is simply a delicate blend of light pilsner malts and noble German hops.

Flavors deliver a lightness of bready pilsner malts, with the forefront of freshly baked light breads- slightly bready and dryish cracker like. Hop flavor of early spice and late earthy bitterness give a clean hop character that grows in intensity just after the initial bready-sweet taste and develops a late and clean bitterness that finishes the flavor profile.

Medium-light in body, the moderately creamy upstart releases its carbonation for a mid palate that quickly develops from tepid sweet feel to a crisp and dry finish with a terse linger of malt and hop bitterness. A very refreshing beer!

Where fans of industrial American beer fans can find comfort in this beer, so can craft beer enthusiasts who seek a lighter fare. It's simply a consistent and over achieving beer throughout.

While this is my preferred style of brew, this one left me wanting a little bit more. This bier poured out a clean golden colour, leaving a smallish head with a lace that trailed, somewhat. The aroma and flavor were not of the depth and complexity that I had grown to love from this style of brews...there was no whitebread or real maltiness involved. Still worth a try should you happen to be in the area.

Zum wohl!

Appearance: Light, clear copper body with a half inch of creamy, white head.

Smell: Comparatively light aroma smelling of pale and pils maltiness with some sweetish hints.

Taste: Blend of pale, pils, and maybe a hint of bready malts as well. Decent amount of sweetness throughout. Spicy hops, though with a restrained bitterness, leaving you with a sweet finish.

Mouthfeel: Just barely medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.

Drinkability: It's decent enough, but there are far better brews to be had here at 5 Seasons.

This was a good beer overall. The best qualities were the smell (nice mild hoppy/grainy) and the mouthfeel (medium bodied and full enough flavor). The tase was a little off, not bad just unexpected I guess. I could drink the beer again but it's not a favorite. Maybe it's the style in general.

Color is rich amber, like the typical American lager but with a depth such brews lack. Smell is strong and invitingly beery. Taste is very good, with no bitterness and just a whisper of sweetness. It feels as smooth as the proverbial silk and goes right down easily. A good starter beer!
