On-tap at the brewpub.

Pours a clear light copper color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of husky malts with hints of earthy hops.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Rigid malt flavors up front sweeten up a bit midway through the sip and are joined by light hops. Ending is crisp and mildly bitter.

Mouthfeel is good. It has a solid thickness with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is good. I didn't have a problem finishing my glass and could have another.

Overall this is a certainly a more traditional steam beer without any overhopping. Worth a shot.

Served on draft at the brewpub. Arrives copper in color with a frothy white head. Again, nice lacing from this 5 seasons brew. They must use wheat or something to get the nice foaminess.

Aroma was Grainy and lager like. I guess that is typical of the style. A bit of earthiness to it. Although the description says they use Cascades, I dont really detect any in flavor or aroma.

Crisp and clean and just as it should be. Slightly fruity but more earthiness.

A very pleasant and easy drinking beer. Nice and clean. Maybe a little overcarbonated but I am sure that is fine for the style. I tend to like my beers a little less carbonated. So be it.

Appearance: Clear, mahogany-hued or maybe a dark copper body (the subdued late night lighting is throwing of my appearance check) with a thin, white head.

Smell: Toasted, steeped grains with, perhaps, a touch of pilsner malts in the mix. Woody, spicy Northern Brewer aroma.

Taste: Toasted malts with some grainy qualities to it and a quick sip of simple syrup for added sweetness. Minor hint of fruit. In comes the clear-cut taste of Northern Brewer hops with it's woody and lightly minty accents. Moderate bitterness. Quick dry for the latter half and certainly well into the bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: A solid, enjoyable California Common.

Comes out of the tap a clear, dark coppery golden-brown with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled off-white head. Aroma is malty and slightly hoppy, not complex but intriguing. Flavor is lively and mainly hoppy with a spicy undertone and mild bitterness. Texture is thick, smooth and tingly. Finish is hoppy and slightly spicy.
