A seasonal maibock available only a this location.

Pours a clear amber with fine carbonation and a creamy but short-lived head.
'
S - subtle and mild aroma featuring a floral and malty smell with some spicy hop notes.

T - slightly bitter balance. Not strong but the finish has more flavor than expected, with a nice hop/malt aftertaste. High ABV mostly hidden but produces a semi-dry finish.

M - smooth with some crispness

O - a nice version of this style worth trying.

An execerpt from the brewpub's beer menu reads:
"A German Bock bier brewed for the late spring. Golden pale in color with a maltiness, sweetness, and body offset the alcohol warmth of a strong beer. Hoppier than our Munchner but not bitter. The hops balance the sweetness without dominating. A really "big" beer."

With a deep golden hue, the beer shows brilliant clarity with a magnifying effect. White froathiness blankets the beer's surface and persists only moderately, presumed because of the alcohol content. Likewise, lacing is also subtle with only a few pockets that cling behind.

Strong pilsner aromas of fresh baked breads, light bread crust, cookie dough, and yeast all share the wealth in the olfactory senses. A late warming reaveals an ester/sulfur blend that reminds me of green apples. Topped with the scent of spicy hops, an element of earthy grasses, tea leaf, lemongreas, and flowery notes balance the nose to perfection.

Deliciously caught somewhere between quaffable and savory, this larger-than-life Lager demonstrates best its rich malt flavor that carries a blend of fresh baked bread, lightly kilned pilsner malt, corn syrup, cookie dough, and slight grain flavor. Never caramelly sweet, this heavily fortified Lager balances with noble spicy hop flavor of spicy grasses and herbs without pushing the bitterness in finish past balance. Still, slightly tilted toward malt flavor, I'd prefer more hop character.

Full and rounded, this moderately carbonated beer allows the malt to sit on the tongue for a richer and somewhat oily effect. Warming alcohol and hop dryness crispens the beer considerably in finish and allows for a malty linger of bread and dough with an accompanying hop bite.

A dangerously smooth beer that invites the mouth to drink as if its a 4.5% Lager. But with Dopplebock-like strength, the liver says no!

Appearance: Clear, middling amber-hued body with a modestly-sized, white head.

Smell: Sweetish and bready on the nose, with a faint background note of finely-ground spice. Some orchard fruit lovingly rinsed in quality alcohol.

Taste: Bready malts, tastes of crumpled sugar cookies, and a sweetish akin to golden syrup with a faint backing of light-colored caramel. Earthy spiciness, then a sliver of lemon peel, then a bite of apple and apricot. Ample bitterness. Sweetish and lightly spicy on the warming finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-plus carbonation. The slight boost in carbonation works to cut through the slight stickiness of the mouthfeel.

Overall: A bit up there, boozewise, but not bad overall, and a nice brew to start up and close out the annual Sausage Fest at 5 Seasons.
