For the style would like much more carbonation; quite flat and lifeless
S:very little, soft honey, some clove
T: very little character, would not pick this as a white beer if tasted blind; very light
M: needs more carbonation and life
O: not impressed; forgettable

Picked up a Session 6 pack that included two cans of this. It has a flavour and aroma reminiscent of soda to me. It doesn't really feel like beer to me either. The orange peel is a little bit too prominent for me.

Dated: NA
From: Premier Wine & Spirits

A: Hazy green-golden body boasting four fingers of head in a weizen glass. Head dissipated very quickly and leaves no lacing.

S: Hints of citrus, spice and some yeast notes. Very weak

T: Much like the aromas, there are faint notes of citrus and spice, some yeast at the end. Quite weak flavours

M: Light bodied and medium carbonation. Water like texture and leaves a dry citrus aftertase. Typical wit feel.

D: This is a miss for me. Nothing really pleasing about it. Shame.

Can from the sampler pack. From notes.

A - Poured light gold and cloudy with a one finger white head that went fast. No lace, no retention.

S - Peppery, orange, dusty.

T - Peppery, cloves, more mellow spice later, lot's of orange.

M - Strong carbonation, medium body, too much carbonation for my tastes. Mild dryness to finish.

O/D - A bit much to finish. Spice was a bit rough for the long run. Nothing too special here. Might just be the style and my tastes, but I didn't really enjoy this one as much as others. While not a bad beer, I just couldn't really get into it.

Premier Wine and Spirits recently picked up a few items in the Red Racer line. Being a fan of wheat beers in general, I decided to grab a six pack of Red Racer's version.

Pours a nice cloudy pale gold color with two fingers of head. Head quickly evaporates to a thing film on top.

Light smell of coriander.

Taste is fairly clean. A bit of coriander, a hint of orange peel, a bit of wheat, a hint of malt. No real overwhelming flavors, no real aftertaste, just a somewhat subdued witbier.

Certainly drinkable. Certainly not bad. Nice and refreshing, but misses out on making it to 'really good' or 'great' status. A nice alternate to their pilsner, but not quite as good as their IPA and Pale Ale.

Looks like a wit. Pale yellow straw colour, quite hazy. Bone white head, fizzes out quickly.

Slight aroma of cantelope, corriander, and citrus zest

Citrus zest, corriander, some wheat malt snap. Finishes quite dry and herbal.

Starts off briskly carbonated, over all body light to medium which fits the style.

Nice domestic take on the style. Pricey though.

A - Pours a hazy pale straw colour, finger of big bubbled white head with little retention and no lacing.

S - Tons of wheat and bready malts, touch of lemon citrus and some grassy hops.

T - Pretty mild on the flavours, bitter leafy hops are detectable alongside the wheat and bready notes. A bit sour though.

M - A tad thin and prickly going down, but finishes nice and wet.

O - A tasty ale from Central City but certainly not their best. A good summer drink nonetheless.

Poured from a can into 20oz pint glass

A - This might be because it was carried home in a shopping bag, but I got a ridiculous amount of medium-retention, white head. Minimal-no lacing though, and it's otherwise a pretty standard wheat-fogged white-ish ale colour.

S - Wheat and malt. A bit of an interesting yeast scent but overall wheat.

T - Bit better than the scent, it tastes a little bready, with a burnt-wheat complexion. Sadly, the beer is overcarbonated, which diminishes the flavour 2-3 seconds after it hits.

M - Creamy, but very bubbly. Light body, overall very refreshing.

D - A summer, lawnmower beer. It's very drinkable, almost as much as a pale lager.

This is a good summer witbier, and I'm sure it would be delicious after a hot day. However, the carbonation, profile and appearance don't really stand out from other wheat ales.

Appearance: Awfully clear for a witbier as it's you can still see fairly concise blurs coming from the other end of the glass. The body boasts good carbonation, that is clearly visible through it's brassy coloration. It started with a good finger of head, and it left very minor lace and did not retain well.

Smell: Citrus notes dominated by a lemon zest with notes of spicy cloves and coriander. Pretty standard wit stuff, and could be a bit more punctuated.

Taste: Pretty good, although nothing that's going to knock your socks off. Begins with a mild mixed citrus of which the lemon quickly takes over as it smoothly builds to a somewhat spice filled moment that ends with a minor bitter kick with wheaty background.

Mouthfeel: Smooth going down with a nice buildup, although the wheat seems to cling to the back of your tongue. Thankfully though the lemon seems to stick around the the front of your mouth too which sort of balances out the aftertaste. Carbonation is a bit tame, but it's forgivable with how mellow the beer is.

Drinkability: It's good, and refreshing but I sort of expect a bit more of a bang from a wit as it drinks more like an easy going lager then the spicy, citrus filled white. It's light though and you certain will have no troubles getting this stuff down.

Final Thoughts: All in all, the beer strikes me as a bit too tame. It almost comes across as a light white, like the wit equivalent of a light lager. Now I admit there is a time for a light beer even though many BA's would disagree with me, but in a witbier, I'm not so sure given how light the style is to begin with. It's done well mind you, and if a light white style existed, this would probably top the list. However such a style does not exist so I'm going to say better then average but not much more.
