I was lucky to find a six pack of this in May as it didn't show up at many stores. This is a cross between a Scotch Ale and a winter warmer. Nice and full flavoured with a malt forward taste. There are some spices on the finish but mostly this is a slightly sweet winter beer with a nice balance ( after it warms up up you can taste and smell the hops). Like all the other Central beers this is really well made and very drinkable.

Appearance: Amber colour with a creamy white head.

Smell: Spicy nose with cloves, vanilla and cinnamon being the dominant aromas.

Taste: This beer has a great malty sweetness, some alcohol presence as well as a distinct nuttiness. Great spicy character just warms you right up. Cinnamon and clove are the dominant flavours. The alcohol provides a candy sweetness that makes this beer a treat to savour.

Mouthfeel: I gave it a 3.5 because the carbonation was a little too low but there was a great creaminess that I come to really enjoy in a winter warmer. There is a slight alcohol burn as well but very subtle.

Drinkability: As with most of Central City's beers, this is very drinkable. I could polish off a few pints and be happy...Very happy. This stuff is pretty strong at 7% alc/vol.

Overall: A great treat of a winter warmer. This beer reminds me somewhat of Howe Sound's Father John's Winter Ale. Except this one has a much fuller flavour and mouthfeel. Very nice!
