Hand-pressurized wax-dipped 22oz from Charleston Beer Exchange. Their last one.

Reddish brown body, medium-dark. Thinnish offwhite head.

Pineapple-ginger nose, really nice.

Tart, wild taste with plenty of sourish pineapple, a trace of ginger. Maybe the apricot, but only after I read the label (which came with the draft package).

Smooth, nicely textured body.

Interesting beer-- tarter than I expected, but quite good. Not worth the price point I happened to pay and I'm not getting a lot of the barrel character, but I haven't tried the source beer.

“We matured this beer for over three months in French-coopered oak barrels from the Ransom Winery & Distillery in Sheridan, Oregon. The barrels originally were used for maturing their Pinot Noir, then used to age the distillery’s WhipperSnapper Oregon Spirit Whiskey for an average of one year.”

Served from growler into a Sierra Nevada tulip. Poured a massively deep red brown with a half finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount very quickly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, fruit, wood, tart, metallic, and sour. The flavor was of sweet malt, fruit, wood, tart, dark fruit, subtle funk, spices, dark chocolate, and sour. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. The fruit and tart character in this one were definitely dominating. However it was really quite easy to drink. The aroma was definitely the star of the show on this one as it was very intense and complex. Really well done brew that I wouldn’t mind having again in the future. Tick.
