On-tap at the Local Taphouse in Sydney for the Italian Spectapular Festival.

Pours a golden hue with a light, clear body. Head is a patchy film of white that doesn't leave much lacing. It's not bad, but it leaves something to be desired.

Yeasty, bready entry on the nose immediately repels me. Going in again, there's a touch of lemony hops, but more of a dose of that yeast, and a floury apple cider character to top it off. Blech.

Light phenolic entry on the palate, before (here it comes again), that bland, flat, bready yeast character, which morphs into dry flour and a weird smoky character on the back, which doesn't work at all with everything else. Feel is very light.

Overall, I'll say it again in all its eloquence: Blech. This is truly verging on offensive. Moreover, it speaks of laziness from these guys. This is just not very good at all.

Pours a golden colour, clear with foamy white head. Fairly average retention. Standard-looking pale beer, but not bad.

Quite sweet on the nose, with a decent tangy fruit character creeping up on the back. Very light though, and certainly less than I would expect from something with IPA in the title, but slight even for something calling itself a pale ale.

Taste is a little odd. Rubbery character comes through early on, and mixes up with woody notes at others. Slight fruity note late-mid but mostly simple and a bit bland. The hops are mostly bittering, but not overwhelmingly so. Fairly decent and drinkable, but average.

Decent body, quite dry. Tingly carbonation.

Expected something a bit more adventurous from this. Really conventional, to-style beer but even then it tastes a little watered-down. Drinkable, though.

Pours clear amber with a thin white head, no fizz or cloudiness. Nose is a malt syrup tang with no hops. Caramel malts with some pumpernickel, tinny tang in the middle, rye grass hops to finish. Light to medium, tingly, some burn and fizzy.

An IPA brewed with real grapefruit.

Not sure what they're trying to do here, but it isn't working. Too fizzy and hot, and not enough hops for anything with the letters "IPA" on it.
