Pours an opaque coffee brown with a thick and lasting tan head. Roast malt aroma has a strong chocolate overtone and a hint of good coffee. Mouth filling flavor sends mocha, malty and subtle nutty notes dancing across the tongue. Texture is fizzy and firm, leaving a mocha finish. Good beer, good cause!

An excerpt from the Max House beer menu:
"Brewed with cocoa nibs from Ghana. Gimme Chocolate Bock has a luscious blend of toasted malt and dark chocolate flavors. Limited Release. IBU 20. OG 17 Plato."
The solid, medium brown beer arrives at the table with a bright clarity accompanied with crimson highlights. A delicate creme of light tan foam provides an even sheet of finely knit bubbles across the surface while contributing light lacing on the glass. A fine and gentlemanly look that's somewhat understated.
Medium toast, light roast, caramel, and chocolate all hit the nose with equal distribution of character. Mild plumb-like fruit notes emit in a slight vinous form. Nutty and somewhat coffeeish as the beer warms.
Smooth flavors of sorghum, chocolate, and toasted walnuts all make impression in taste. Firmly malted with smooth flavors of bread crust, medium toast, and slight grain, grain husk. Mild plumb flavors seem to be grain deriven and offer a side note of complexity to accompany the classy German-like maltiness. Light on bitterness, there's only a bark-like woodiness to balance the complex malt profile and cocoa additions.
Medium textured throughout, the fine carbonation plays creamy and medium-full to start. But after the carbonation subsides, a grainy and near astringent character from cocoa bitterness, mild grassy/woody hops, and roasted barley kernels layer onto the back and sides of the mouth and cause a somewhat distracting bite to accompany the otherwise clean, smooth, and savory finish.
A linger of nuttiness, cocoa, and toast have a terse linger past the finish and leaves an invitation for the next sip. Certainly a firm Bockbier that's a welcome rememberance of a seemingly fading style that now favors Dopplebocks. Although the grainy flavors and textures show too proudly and the cocoa nibs remain light, this is still a spot on Bock.
