I used to live around the corner from here. Typical student joint immediately to the south of U of T, and known as an engineer's bar. Beer lineup is a mix of macros, pilseners and the odd uninspiring local micro. Nothing that would set the heart fluttering. More like going on a blind date and discovering the person opposite you is 20 years older and 200lbs heavier than advertised.

The bar itself is a little dark and dingy. A dive in the finest student sense of the word, but hopefully we'll all past that now. Decent micro-patio on College makes for good people watching. I've only had some crappy nachos there, so I can't comment on the food, but the service is average. One thing in its favour is that its predictably cheap.

Not a beer destination.

Excellent bar to go on a student budget. All pints are $6 or less. I usually go for the Paulaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel, Warsteiner, Tankhouse Ale and sometimes Hoegaarden. Not many bars in Toronto (that I know of) have all these beers at good prices.

I know the servers/bartenders by name now, very friendly, and its usually quiet when I go... late afternoon or lunch. It is in a basement, and seems kind of dirty at first, but after a few drinks it feels like home.

Food is quite good and reasonably priced. I usually get wings or onion rings.

I visit this place weekly and I am never disappointed.

The best place on or around Spadina/College U of Toronto area as far as some craft beers. Really sparse selection, however they had a few interesting bottles and even some growler from beau's lager. So you can get a decent beer if you are stuck to this art of town. However the atmosphere was a dingy like basement, not much room at all. Noone was about to serve late lunch. Food is supposed to be decent enough for a beer pub.On tap: their renaming of Amseterdam stout, a mill street, a couple of larger imports, a Welli. Bar should be adequate for during the day.

This is your typical college hangout type of bar, especially for engineers at U of T, but surprisingly there is some good beer here. For one, they don't do coors, blue, molson (except for bottles maybe, but I rarely see them). Rather, on draught, they have cameron's (auburn and cream ale), waterloo dark, upper canada, guinness, kilkenny and the most exciting for me, is Wellington (arkell and county ale). Also, they do have 2 einstein beers brewed for them: Ein-stein stout brewed by Amsterdam and Ein-stein lager brewed by Great lakes. I've had the lager, which I'd stay away from.

Aside from the selection of mostly Ontario micros, the food and prices are great. A pint of wellington cost me 4 bucks. They have daily specials like $5.99 tuna melts or pasta that will fill you up. Service is friendly.

While this place is more of a hangout than a beer bar, for the price, they have a better selection than your usual bar. Atmosphere is fun, and they have free pool and karaoke each week.
