Dark brown, almost black color with a tiny tan head. Head left a fine lacing around glass until the end.
Served in a tulip-style snifter glass.
Smells malty, roasted, slight hint of alcohol.
Taste is similar. Very strong taste, mainly of roasted malts, with hints of caramel and a bit bready. Slight taste of earth. Alcoholic strength is masked pretty well and not really noticable.
Thick, and heavy. Easy to drink a few as they are served in small glasses but will knock your socks off after a bit.
One of Nodding Head's best, IMHO.

On-tap into a tulip glass
A - Very dark, almost black, with nice tan head and tons of lacing that slides deliciously back down into the beer once you get going
S - Solid, spicy, caramel ale smell; lots of noticeable alcohol scent; nothing too much else
T - Similar to the smell, there's a pretty hard kick of alcohol at the front that goes away pretty fast; left is the spicy caramel taste that goes down fairly smooth, given the alcohol content; not a particulalry complex beer
M - Very syrupy feel (no surprise) with a nice lingering flavor and good body
D - Pretty good; not my favorite beer I've had at Nodding Head, but it's got a nice flavor, if nothing I'd go out of my way for

Full of flavour, dark and malty. Small head and lace remaining in glass. Alcohol hidden there with a hammer. Touch of smoke and sweet fruitiness, and peat, caramel, chocolate malts. Higher alcohol than other scottish styles they have tried in the past.
