"As the name implies, this is one knock-out of a beer. Brewed to be a light bodied, refreshing ale, Blonde Bombshell combines subtle malt and wheat flavors with a delicate Liberty hop aroma to create a sensational beer. Originally brewed as a seasonal, this beer was so popular it pushed its way into our regular line-up."

As I paid "designer beer" price for this, I had higher expectations but found this relatively ordinary, along the lines of PBR.

Pours light pale yellow; minimal quickly disipating head.

No overt smell, but towards dry hops.

Taste was highly ordinary. Light floral hops, and perhaps a wheaty tone to the body. Slightly peppery. No creamyness nor sweetness.

Moughtfeel was light,no real before or after effects...

Overall, totally unmemorable. Will definitely pass it by next time.

didnt love this one, but wanted to, have been seeing more of their stuff around lately and dipping in a little more. this is heavy for the style, not as clean as i need it to be on the ferment, and sort of middling as they go, not only unexciting but also not particularly well made to me, not as refreshing, less summery, its sort of in a weird grey area between styles. its a little overly malty, not quite toasted or sweet or anything, but like generically grainy and a little more filling because of it, despite it still being on the dry side. its also rather assertively hopped, some citrus through the center but a little more bitter on the back end than a lot of these are, perhaps alienating the typical yellow beer drinker, and to me its more punch than flavor, not necessary in this style. perhaps my can was older and the malt had heavied up some in its fade and the hops devolved to bitter, but this just didnt hit like a light hot weather beer to me, even slightly metallic on the finish. it has good carbonation and is definitely best when ice cold, but there are a lot of other options in this style space that perform better in the areas this one seems to be trying to. not bad, more flavor overall than most of these, but also not light and bright and crisp. will have to revisit this one in high summer and when i can verify a date on the can...

On tap at Snakepit yesterday. Clear golden pour with a white head. Not much aroma to speak of, but it’s slightly sweet and grainy. Really basic for a frequently boring style, but it’s drinkable.

This fairly bland, but highly drinkable. Lightweight grainy nose, with some taste of a wheat ale, lightly hopped.. Pale golden body with a scant head. Mild hoppy, dry finish. Would be good on a very, very hot day.

Bottle poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours slightly hazy golden straw with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and laces well.

S: Light malt, wheat twang, little fruity yeast esters, and a little lemony grassy hop presence.

T: Light citrus, lemon, slightly grassy, fruity notes, light malt, and a little wheat. A bit thin and watery.

M: Light body, moderate carbonation.

O: Drinkable, but seems a bit watered down at times. Probably a decent beach beer though.

Poured into a Dogfish Head pint glass. Pours a light straw amber with a thin white head with decent retention and light slippery lacing. Aroma of sweet bready malt and light grassy hops. Flavor follows, sweet bready malt, a hint of citrus and a light grassy hop finish. Light bodied. American blonds seem to the opposite side of the coin to "crafty" megabrewer beers: a craft beer mimicking an adjunct lager. Lightly flavored, pleasant and inoffensive, this could pass as a macro brew. No faults, but I'm unlikely to return to this bombshell.

Thanks to Donkster46 for this beer sent with love from Washington!

Appearance (3.5) : Blonde is right, with a mostly transparent body, I'd say about 20% opacity. 1 finger fluffy head that pretty much stays put.

Smell (3.5) : Rich, toasted grains. Bready sweetness, roasted malts, yeasty heaven. A touch of caramel. I absolutely love the smell of blondes (pfft, haha) and this one is no different.

Taste (3.25) : I really wish there was more yeast here, but it's not too bad. I'm getting corn or malted grains of some sort, bread crust, and some sour malt notes here and there. Hint of lemon on the finish.

A good blonde in my opinion has a lovely, bready yeast that just rises up and slaps you lovestruck. That's sadly missing here. It tastes more like a typical adjunct lager with some extra breadiness. That being said, it's not a bad tasting beer - it's just missing what I love most.

Mouthfeel (3.25) : Spiky carbonation, dissolves slowly into a smooth creamy finish. Wheat burps. Acceptable for the style but wish it were smoother.

Overall (3.31) : It's worth a try. I personally have yet to find a better blonde than Dempsey's Battle Axe Blonde in Watertown, SD on tap. That's my hometown, and that beer is downright amazing. On the right night, you're drinking fresh baked bread. Even on the wrong night, it's a good beer. Anyways, the Blonde Bombshell from Cascade Lakes is reminiscent of a macro lager with a slight hint of breadiness. Try it if you can. If you can't, you're not missing out on much.
