I take it the name comes from the glass round large marble
that this is the big hitter.

Cool amber body with a proper northern white thick head

The aroma is deceptive just giving mere hints of malts and slight hoppiness with notes of barley.

Then the taste tangy citrus with rich spiced apple and the grapefruit tang with sheer hop attack that you get with a
Double IPA of the highest standing.

A proper mouthful.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2013. I've heard good things about this brewery - looking forward to this brew.

Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. A hazy golden hue with chunky sediment and plentiful carbonation. Produces a massive head of creamy white foam with excellent retention; it eventually reduces to a thick surface layer. Aroma of intense aromatic hops - notes of grapefruit, lime, citrus and grass, followed by earthy yeast and light malt.

Tastes of aromatic hops with a crisp, dry bitterness. Notes of grapefruit and citrus, in addition to earthy yeast and malt. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with good body. Pretty astringent - dries the palate thoroughly. Aftertaste of yeast and a strident citrus bitterness.

Mmmm - nice. An powerful citrus aroma and dry bitter finish, though not quite as intense as an American IPA. Delicious and well-balanced. Pick one up if you have the opportunity.

Poured into a Dogfish Head pint glass. Pours a slightly cloudy medium golden amber with a two finger white head with good retention and lacing. Light aroma of biscuit malt, grassy and citrus hops. Flavor is biscuit and bready malt, lemon and grapefruit, apple juice, grassy and citrus hops. Fairly dry, but very nicely balanced. Lingering citrus and grassy hop finish. Medium bodied with slight creaminess. A very nicely made English style IPA with a tasty malt body fully supporting a pleasant hop bill. Not sure of the age of this one, probably not at its freshest considering distribution of Manchester Marble stuff, so very well made to still taste this good.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a very cloudy texture. There was an inch and a half of foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Excellent lacing.

S: A nice aroma of hops, a lot of malt, citrus, an earthy quality, and a biscuity quality.

T: Tasted of a good amount of citrus (orange and lemon, in particular), the earthy quality, a good amount of malt, light hops, biscuits, and a light grassiness. An interesting flavor that's more complex than I expected. Not a hoppy beer - this is an English IPA after all - but it has a light, sweet flavorful quality.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: On the whole, this is a surprisingly drinkable beer. Quite easy to like.

Big frothy head that fades slowly to a solid 5mm dense blanket of foam. Leaves so much lace. Like the salty sea froth left on the sand after a storm. Body is honey/straw and slightly hazy.

Subtle nose of peppery and dried grass hops. Some buscuity malt in there too.

A fairly aggressive & dry bitterness leads, dried cut grass on a decent mouthfull of malt. A decent dob of honey'd scone through the back palate and into the aftertaste. Long dry finish. The bottle conditioning has added an x-factor of depth to the flavour as well as fulling out the mouth feel. Shit loads of sediment in the bottle. Good to see.

A solid drop. Not as good as I've had from these guys before (Their Manchester Bitter is supoib) but I'd hapilly have another few.
