Music pairing: The Doors' Crystal Ship is an obvious recommendation. Deep, dark music meets a bold, complex brew.

The nose is blackberry, oak tannins (from the wine barrels), massive plums and souring yeasts. The flavor follows as plum is dominant, with notes of blackberries, sour yeast strains and wine-barrel flavors that coalesce at the mid-back of palate and stick around the cheeks. There are some very faint notes of oak and vanilla from the wood, but these are barely perceptible. The sour yeast strains and carbonation provide a moderately fuzzy mouthfeel, with lingering red wine characteristics, including black licorice/anise at the very back of the palate. This is superbly dry for a sour, it sucks the saliva right out of your mouth.

I'm stoked I grabbed a few of these bottles and will likely grab more next time I visit. Wonderful beer. And as stated previously: a very happy mistake. Cheers!

Pours a turbid brown color with a short lived head. Souring yeast strain evident in the nose. Taste has brown malt, toast, sugar and slight winelike tartness on the back end. Light wild flavor not bad. Sessionable, interesting, but reminds me very much like the wild ale collaboration east end did a year or so back Pennsyltucky Uncommon wild ale. Not bad and interesting.

I'm glad they are starting to bottle this one. this is definatly a happy mistake on their part. If they make this a ocassional rarity at the brewery I buy it again for sure.
It has a real strong citrus almost like lemonade. it comes off sweet and tangy. It has a great off tan head and laces well. Also it only gets better as it ages. I have had my growler for about a month and still get a great pour and better everyday

Pours a very turbid red-touched brown with a excessively boisterous tan head that rises only a little bit and falls to nothing quickly. Very Flemish in style, which pleases me.Cherry tone is there with what seems like wood and wine influence from the barrels as well. Underlying sweet edge with a bit of a mild funk. Much better than I thought it was going to be. I like it.
