Black Strap Stout from East End Brewing. 16 oz can. Purchased from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA on 09/02/23 for $ 3.50 (Including tax) - $ 0.219/oz. In reefer at store, stored at 34 degrees at home. Reviewed 14/02/23 (Review 3040). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated Can. Served at 48.7 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 54.1 degrees.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), clear.
Body – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear lite, opaque with light penetration only at the edges (Ruby).
Head – Average (Maximum four cm, aggressive center pour), brown sugar initially but lightens to khaki as it breathes, high density, quickly receding to an undulating 0.7 – 1.3 cm crown, and a complete cap.
Lacing – Good. Wide band of tiny to small bubbles coats the glass for two cm above the surface.
Aroma – 3.5 – Malted milk, chocolate, slightly sweet. No hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins chocolatey with roasted malt bitterness. No hops, no yeast. No ethanol (7 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. No gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends dry and mildly bitter.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, short of creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 (After deducting 0.25 point for undated container) Good example of a basic stout.

Sample pour at the brewery. Great color. Smokey nose. Found it a bit thin. Smokey flavor. Slight hint of cocoa. Slight bitter down the center of the tongue. Would pair will with dessert time.
