Great, cheap beer for those that dislike the bitter taste of most beers and/or want something fruity, but do not want some generic wine cooler. Not as good as a Woodchuck, but it'll do, it'll do.

Bought a single bottle as part as a make your own 6-pack. Chilled down to 36 degrees in my beer cooler and poured into a 16 ounce pilsner glass. Pours a golden yellow close to apple juice but with bubbles streaming form the bottom of the glass. No head or lacing was seen actually. The aroma is of fresh strawberries, apples and hops. The taste is exactly as the aroma. Very pleasing with the just right amount of carbonation. No harsh aftertaste. Overall this one is pretty good and is a great summer brew.

At first, I didn't think I would like this. I intuitively didn't think 'strawberry' and 'ale' went together harmoniously. I thought it was going to be a sickeningly-sweet, overly-strawberried concoction. But it wasn't. This beer was on the dryer side and crisp. It was definitely strawberry - no subtleties here. There was enough strawberry that I didn't really pick up any malt/hop characteristics - which is fine - though it had the color of a pale ale (not pilsner).

This ended up being a nice, easy drinker at the end of a hot day. I rated taste, mouthfeel and overall as 'outstanding' as, for this style, it was nicely balanced....though still in a gray-area between 'ale' and 'malt beverage'.

It's been years since I'm done a review. Nothing has really struck my fancy, and the craft beer market has quickly over saturated, leaving me feeling that the crest has peaked... Nevertheless...

This one is worthy of noting.

Clear yellow color with good carbonation. Not much of a head. Very similar to a cider. Strong notes of strawberry which are not cloying or overly sweet and artificial. Tastes rather sweet, with a undeniable malt presence, albeit rather weak. Smooth, crisp mouthfeel, with not aftertaste. Not a traditional beer, but I certainly enjoy it.

As for drinking this as an ale - I wouldn't give it a second thought, but in retrospect, this makes a decent desert beer. Forget the fine wines, ports or whatever, try this after dinner. Or, maybe try it on the patio or deck in the summer. Interesting as a beverage - but not so great as an ale.

Redd's Strawberry Ale brewed by Miller Brewing Co., with an ABV of 5.0% This brew pours out a dark amber color with a thin white head. The head of this brew goes away fast. The appearance is that of an American style lager. There is not a lot of carbonation to this brew. Redd's Strawberry Ale appearance is decent. Looks like Apple juice, not saying that is a bad thing. The smell of Redd's strawberry is really strong with strawberry and apples. There are little to no hops, grains or malts. Just Apple and Strawberry, not saying that is a bad thing. Not too big on the smell, it's like cheap strawberry candy or Kool Aid. The taste is really strawberry, but it is smooth with a clean finish. Mouth feel of Redd's Strawberry Ale is nice nothing bad but it dose has a strawberry after taste. To me it is smooth a full of sweetness. This is a good brew to change it up from other brews on the market. Redd's Strawberry Ale has a decent balance to it, if you like Strawberry and apple. Overall I'm giving Redd's Strawberry Ale a 3.25 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. This brew is not something I can drink on all night , however it a good brew.

Redd's Strawberry Ale is light and easy to drink, just like the apple. The strawberry flavor is sweet but not too much. It doesn't make me feel full or as if I've had too much to drink, and it tastes fresh in my mouth--even afterward. It's just a good beer that's nice to have with dinner or on its own. Going through each of the ratings doesn't quite match up with what I think, since it is not an "outstanding" beer at all, in any category, and it isn't exceptionally interesting or unique, but I'll drink it over and over, because it is overall good and, again, easy to drink.

Clear deep gold with no head or lacing.
Smells like strawberries and sugar.
Tastes like strawberries apple and sugar.
Mouthfeel is light to medium and carbonation is full. Finish is medium sweet.
Overall a tasty beverage just not sure it qualifies as beer. I would think lots of people who don't care for the taste of beer would enjoy this.

Would have thought this to be a cider. Sweet and crisp. No bad - but might not be for the true beer drinker - hard to find the elements of beer in this drink.

Served from the bottle in a shaker pint glass at Chasers - Lake Zurich.

So I eyed this bottle in the cooler the first (and former) time I was at Chasers, knowing that I haven't found an individual bottle anywhere else for some reason. This time, with some time to kill, let's grab it, eh? This stuff pours a clear brass-amber topped by a half-finger of short-lived off-white foam. The nose comprises artificial strawberry, an undercurrent of artificial sweet apple, and a hint of corn syrup. The taste brings in more of the same, the inherent sweetness really doing the strawberry flavor a hefty favor. The body is a light medium, with a moderate carbonation and a slick-ish, almost soda-like feel. Overall, not a bad fruity thing, though it's soda-reminiscent characteristics make it unlikely that I'll have many more in the future.

look: 2.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3.25

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – As could be seen from the clear bottle, the beer pours a golden amber color with a lot of carbonation streaming up through the brew. Upon pouring there is a super fizzy white head of one finger that fades almost instantly leaving absolutely no lace or foam.

Smell – The aroma is a mix of hard cider and a hard candy strawberry smell. Really nothing else could be discerned.

Taste – The taste begins with a big apple juice taste mixed with some lighter notes of caramel and strawberry. As the flavor advances the caramel fades with the apple and strawberry getting stronger in flavor. These flavors take the taste to its end, leaving a sweet apple –strawberry juice mixed with a hard cider flavor to be left on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is very thin with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. Both are appropriate for the cider like characteristics of the brew.

Overall – Very sweet and cider like and not really beer like at all. If you want a cider with some strawberry flavor then this is a decent choice, but if looking for something with beer characteristics then you may want to steer clear.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a light golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of sweet strawberries. Taste is like strawberry soda, only sweeter. Really doesn't have many characteristics of a beer. Feels light in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.

A: Clear, pale amber. Almost no head, and thus no lacing.

S: Very strong strawberry aromas, actually fairly inviting. I'm reminded of strawberry jam cooking on the stove. There may be some apple notes as well, but otherwise there aren't any other obvious aromas.

T: Initially sweet, then some fruity tartness. I liked the strawberry flavors, but it was too one-dimentional. Certainly none of the grainy malt I'd expect from a true "ale," and absolutely no hops. Late in the finish I got a hint of artificial sweetener or another "off" flavor -- I can't quite place it.

M: Moist and thirst-quenching, but no real crispness (despite the label's claims).

O: Just OK. It's wet and unoffensive, but totally lacks the nuanced complexity and amazing drinkability of Samuel Smith's Organic Strawberry Fruit Beer

Redd’s Strawberry Apple Ale has a thin-to-medium, root beer-like head, which quickly fizzes away, a clear, bubbly, golden appearance, and no lacing left behind. The aroma is very much of strawberry juice, with maybe a slight, underlying bread aspect. Flavor is of strawberry juice and apple juice mixed, but the strawberries predominate. There is also that underlying bread aspect that one gets in the smell. The mouthfeel is light and watery, and Redd’s Strawberry Apple Ale finishes sweet, easily drinkable, and refreshing enough. Overall, this is very good, and even excellent, for a flavored ale, but only just good as a beer, so called.

A - Looks a lot like champagne, very bubbly. Zero head and lace.

S - Artificial strawberry, and light apple. Incredibly sweet.

T - Fruity, a lot like hawaiian punch.

M - Light and bubbly.

O - Surprisingly not awful, but obviously nothing special.

Transparent ale, slightly darker than straw color. Absolutely no head to speak of even after an athoughggressive pour. Can see a few bubbles rising to the surface.

Smells like strawberry soda.

Taste is much like strawberry soda just a little less sweet and more natural tasting. Just a hint of malt character and red apples. No hops detected.

Medium bodied with a slick, syrupy texture. Decent carbonation.

Sweet but not too sweet. Surprisingly, not terrible as expected. Pretty average for a fruit beer though. Probably won't be going out of my way to get this but it was worth a try.

Appearance: Clear deep amber in color, with a small white head, which fades to the vanishing point in mere seconds. Lacing is absent, The carbonation is slight in quantity and slow-rising.

Aroma: A strong punch of candy-like strawberry dominates the aroma. There is a bit of maltiness beneath, but it is very slight.

Taste: Opens with an intense rush of what seems to be natural strawberry and apple flavoring. As the taste progresses, the strawberry and apple flavors back off a bit, and some understated light lager characteristics can be discerned. There is a slight bit of hop bitterness at the close, which helps to beat back, be it ever so slightly, the lingering fruit flavors.

Mouth feel: Thin, with stinging, champagne-like carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: This seems like a less-revolting version of a "malt cooler", though it is called an ale. Interesting and refreshing on a late summer day, but if you are expecting a traditional ale with a hint of strawberry flavoring, prepare to be disappointed.

Presentation: Packaged in a clear glass (!) twelve-ounce long-neck bottle with a twist-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Source: Purchased at HEB in Texas in September of 2013 for $6.99 six-pack plus tax.

A: [3.25] Crystal clear yellow color. A really rough pour produced a slight white head that was gone before I set the bottle down. The bottle lists the ABV (5.0%). The neck has a date that I believe is a best by date (1/26/15).

S: [3.00] Strawberry. Nothing else. Not subtle strawberry - full on strawberry.

T: [2.50] Follows the nose. Heavy strawberry.

M: [3.00] Light, crisp, refreshing. High carbonation.

O: [2.75] This is like a flavored Bud Light. I am sure people that don't like beer but do like strawberry would enjoy this. It is not offensive - I would drink one on a boat. It does start to wear on you, the unrelenting strawberry flavor. It would be WAY down my list of beers to seek out.

This is not by any means a beer or an Ale.I like it on those days that I just need something cold and sweet when i be chilling with my lady. It's really not to bad,but it's more like a wine cooler than a beer. It's got a nice kick to it if you drink a few.

Pours a golden pee color with no head at all and very clear.

The aroma reminds me of strawberry starburst and flat malt liquor.

Good thing it tastes better than it looks and smells. I tasted mostly strawberry and apple with hints of macro beer.

The drink is light bodied with sharp carbonation and you can feel a tart bite in the cheeks.

Not really something you'll find me drinking normally.

I bought a six-pack of this stuff only because my daughter wanted this stuff, so what's a dad to do? I am beginning to believe that Redd's is trying to be a gateway brew for women to get excited to beer. Unfortunately, this stuff is more like Seagrams or Bartle and James than a real beer.

From a pure beer perspective it wasn't altogether awful, but it certainly wasn't the best I've ever had. Appearance was so-so, the smell was okay, but the rest was sorta okay at best. Overall, I think I liked the Apple Ale better, but I'm certainly not a huge fan of these beers.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass.
Aroma- Smells like artificial strawberries with some grain tossed into the mix.
Appearance- The best part of this experience, a light copper color with no head to speak of.
Taste- Incredibly sweet, but an artificial sweet flavor with a beer aftertaste, not for me.
Palate- A light bodied beer with moderate carbonation with a sweet tart candy like experience for the aftertaste.
Overall- I do enjoy some fruit beers but this is just so over the top and artificial I didn't care for it.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium yellow in color with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and hints of golden yellow highlights. The beer has an eighth of a finger tall fizzy white head that almost immediately fades to just a couple of extremely small patches of extremely thin film and no ring at the edges of the glass. No lacing is observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of super sweet artificial strawberry with some lighter hints of sweet apple juice and just a hint of something medicinal in nature.

T: This is a very sweet beverage with moderate to strong flavors of very sweet artificial strawberry with some light hints of slightly sour artificial strawberry. There are light to moderate flavors of apple juice but there is nothing remaining that makes me think of this as a beer.

M: Light to medium bodied with heavy amounts of carbonation.

O: This reminds me more of a strawberry soda than a beer - not horrible if this fruit flavored thing is what you are looking for but it's not my favorite thing (it was a freebie from a family friend so I am reviewing it). Alcohol is very well hidden but it is too sweet.
