A customer at my work recommended coming here the next time I headed to MO, and I was not disappointed to say the least! At my local store, we have a variety that surpasses others in the LR area. Brown Derby was... Disneyland for the craft beer lover! They had a few of the regulars I've seen but for the most part, I did not recognize anything there. My boyfriend and I easily spent an hour there, trying to decide on what to get. Eric was extremely helpful and informative. It was fun to go to a store and completely geek out with an employee about beer. We left with some gems and I can't wait to make another trip there.

Craft beer geeks should know this is the #1 place for selection in Springfield, from domestic to import. This has been my local bottle shop for many years.
From 4 & 6 packs to 750's, mix 6's to bombers, the selection of domestic and import bottles is vast. Eric, the beer manager, is as knowledgeable as anyone you'll talk to, and once you get to know him he's funny and generous.
The Derb, as I like to call it, just started serving draft beer, and the selection has been incredible from day one. They have eight handles, and in the 5 short months they've been active, they have run through beers such as: Hopslam, BCBS, KBS, Imperial Doughnut Break, Imperial Biscotti Break Pretty Please w/a Cherry, BOMB!, Ron and the Beast Ryan, Calabaza Boreal, and many more. Among the current selections are: Brew Cocky, Calabaza Blanca, Oarsman, and 1000 IBU.
They have also recently started offering food, which its deliciousness I can't even begin to explain. My favorite is the Deluxe BLT. Take your standard BLT, put it on Rye, add a fried egg, sriracha aioli, and avocado. Pair that with their homemade red cabbage slaw and you'll want to shit yourself. They also do small pizzas with bacon infused crust, stromboli, reubens, meat and cheese plates, and more.
Oh, they also have the largest wine and spirits selection in the region.
If you're in Springfield and you like good food and beer, then this place should be on your list.

The layout was pretty open with the food near the front of the store and the coolers extending across the back. The singles and 750s are separated and located in the back right corner.

I didn't see any dusty bottles or beers past date. I looks like they rotate their stock.

The employees were attentive and at least three different ones offefed to help me find something. They also loaded my purchase onto the dolly and took it to the car for me.

The selection was better than any other store in the region, they had plenty of Lagunitas, Bells, and Founders that you don't usually see in other stores. They even had a case of Boulevard Lovechild, but at $20 a piece.

The prices were noticeably higher on some items like Stone 4packs. They were $12 when the same 4pack at Macadoodles was $8.

I was overall pleased and will probably start shopping there when I am in town.

Great organization, very open & non cluttered

Spent $260 on beer, but got a couple of tired/stale beers. Next time I will check those labels closely

Service was friendly & helpful

Fantastic selection, best I've seem in Missouri, to include most of the upper echelon stores in the KC area. Tons of beers I've never seen Evil Twin, Urban Chestnut & Perenial just to name a few. There were a few breweries I didn't see, but only a few (Nebraska & Cantillion come to mind)

There was a ton of gourmet food, looked good, but was there for the beer

Prices were not good, my piddly stores in SW Mizzou soundly kick their butt. They did give me a mixed case discount, for which I am grateful. I will be back their selection eclipses any store within 200 miles

There are many Brown Derby Liquor stores around the city but as far as craft brew goes this one is a must visit. I was lucky enough to show up for a KBS tasting that they had on Friday when I was in town. They have beer tasting regularly so check their facebook. I met a guy who spent about thirty minutes with me walking me around the store and suggesting some great beers based on my liking. I even came out with some hard to find goodies. They had a great single beer selection although it was a bit pricey. Overall, great selection and great customer service.

This place is about a 30 minute drive from my home and well worth the drive! They have a large build-a-six-pack selection of small bottles (3-bottle minimum) and a large bomber section with beers from all over the world. I was told that they keep over 1,000 beers in rotation! Not only do they have a massive selection of beer, but they also have imported cheeses from around the world to pair with all that good import beer. They have a nice glassware selection as well. My wife and I have spent over two hours in a single visit just browsing! Beer tastings on Friday afternoons and wine tastings on Saturdays. They also do an awesome job with their facebook page by letting you know what’s new and what’s going on in the store. Awesome place!

This is a superb place to go for all sorts of brew selections. There is an outstanding assortment of beer and they are normally extremely current on recent items. You can get individual selections and can even create your own 6-pack, in which there is normally a superb variety to choose from.

As for non-beer related items, they have a great selection of wine and liquor and boast several shelves of hot sauces, relishes, cheeses, etc. They usually also have some very interesting gift items as well!!

This is the local store to go to if you want great, rare, or actually, any beer. From the most pricey, the $150 GIANT bottle of Samiclaus, to MilBest. There are numerous beers from all over the globe. Everytime I go I find at least three new beers to add to my shopping list.
The service is extremely knowlegable and there is usually at least one beer geek around who isn't a poser.
This is the top liquor store in the area and one of the best I've been to anywhere in my travels.

Went here for the first time this past weekend. I am originally from Columbia, MO, and I had no idea that MO could get some of the beers they had. There was an incredible selection of great beer, and these guys do what they can to snatch limited releases from the breweries that distribute to them. This is probably one of the best liquor stores in MO; it beats many that I have visited in KC, mainly because of their selection of relatively rare beers. You can tell they do everything they can to seek out smaller distributers in the state that handle more obscure products so they can make the best out of what is available to them. Additionally, a staff member talked to me for about 20 mins about different craft beers in their selection and made recommendations based upon my favorite styles. He was the most knowledgable craft beer person I have ever talked to, bartenders included. When my wife and I got home to Norman, which is 4.5 hours away, we discovered that they had charged us for an extra beer. I called them and they credited it back to our card without any issue. The service and selection at this store is unrivaled in MO in my opinion.

Caddy corner to the used CD store (2011) - welcome to Springfield MO.

An impressive beer selection for a blue collar, remote town.

Black Albert for $10.00
Bell's 25th Anniversary
Goose Island Big John for $9.99 (which I would up getting a week later in IL for $15).
Odell's Woodcut - Crimson and Lager

Lot's of great beer to choose from. I would up getting one 12oz single of Odell DIPA and was told at check out that next time the singles are sold in groups of three. One of the cashiers was super nice and helpful the other was a grouch (asked where I might find this on tap around town).

Second stop on a whirlwind college reunion tour to St. Louis, I hit up the Brown Derby Int'l Wine Center on my drive home to Texas.

Swanky place, if not a bit over-stuffed up front with home decor and potpourri vestibules that remind me of Pier 1. Moving past all that noise, however, we find ourselves immersed in beer Nirvana. Big selection in both coolers and shelves. Cantillon, Fantome, 3 Fontenein, De Dolle, Rochefort, Trappistes, Professor Fritz Briem, and more comprise the high-ended European imports. Prices can get a little steep--saw the same bottle of 3F Kriek for $40 here that cost $35 in St. Louis. Picky? Perhaps, but it is what it is...there is a mixed case discount which helps travelers like myself who buy in bulk, though.

The nice thing about the selection in this Springfield shop is that I get a sense that the newer releases don't fly off the shelves immediately like their St. Louis counterparts. Thus, I was able to find GI Big John, Nightstalker, Boulevard '11 Imperial Stout, Firestone Walker Double Jack, and plenty of others (did I mention Cantillon? NICE).

Staff was very helpful, even though I was one of 5 people in the store during my half-hour long foray. The guy who brought me a cart knew his beer well, and we discussed their selection and his recent trip to Belgium and other beer shops. He even helped carry a case to the car after all was rang up and paid for.

Overall, a MUST stop for anyone driving the long stretch of I-44 between Tulsa and St. Louis.

My family and I made a Spring Break trip to Branson and went into Springfield one afternoon. I knew what was up - I was on a quest. All I really wanted was Bells and Founders. I was surprised how big the place was and I could bring my kid in with me - oh how we get screwed in Oklahoma. This place is so much more than a liquor store. It's well kept, clean, nicely appointed, a bit upscale, and gives you a peaceful easy feeling. Yeah, like the song.

They have an excellent wine inventory (their specialty), but they also have anything and everything to go with it - glassware, cheese, meat, condiments, breads, crackers, warmers, coolers, racks, books, decor, partywares, just about everything. It's all pretty cool and some unique stuff as well. They have many samples of cheese, crackers, spreads, and meats to try. There's a cool little extreme hot sauce section if you enjoy taking the old "fire dump" the next morning - that's years of experience coming from a chile head.

There was a guy (vendor or associate?) by the beer giving samples of what I think were scotch. Hmmm? I like these MO laws.

The beer selection is the best I've seen in the area thus far. I expected a bit more beer judging from the size of the storefront, but it has plenty to keep you busy. I found a large display of Southern Tier Choklat bombers - $7.99 each. They had several Founder's labels including Dirty Bastard, Centennial IPA, and, Porter ($9.49 6pk). Several Bell's labels on the shelf too - Amber, Two Hearted ($11.49 6pk), Pale Ale, Third Coast, Best Brown, and Cherry Stout. There was a nice Trappist selection within a worthy Belian lineup. Good German selections as well. They also have quite a bit of the Odell lineup as well as O'Fallan, and Schlafly. A few from Lagunitas, Shmaltz, and Ska as well.

When asked if I needed help, I said, "Did you guys get any KBS?" The associate said, "Yes, but we keep it in back and there's a 2 bottle limit." I did NOT expect them have KBS so I got my two bottles ($5.79 ea). "Hopslam? I asked." "No."

There was a nice little beer glassware corner which was okay, not too special. Mostly things you can order direct online for less. There is also a mix-a-6 wall that does not have a standardized price - it's still priced by the bottle. I prefer to see a one price fits all type deal.

I did find that overall the pricing was higher than what I found in Branson, but the selection was much better here. I recommend you stop at THIS particular store. Be aware that there are many Brown Derby stores in Springfield, but this is the one you want. Great place for gift buying ideas. Careful - you could easily spend a couple of hours here looking at all the "other" nice things they have to offer.

This is the place to go for beer (and wine, and liquor) in Springfield.
They have a great selection of beers; craft, Belgian & imports, six-packs and bombers, and they fight to get rare stuff in. They also keep up with new releases and expand their selection frequently.
The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, because they love beer too. Talk to Eric if you have any beer questions, he is awesome.
They have a pretty decent selection of single bottles for mixed six packs. They put good breweries like Founders and Bell's on sale regularly, and on Fridays they have beer samples.
If you can't find it at the Wine Center, you probably can't find it in Springfield.

Nice store, descent selection, but disappointed that they don't keep accurate track records of their stock. I was emailed a huge list, but the list didn't match the shelves current beers in stock. I understand stock rotates, however I can't see it rotating that much within a week. One item I was pysched to get my hands on was the Founders KBS. The emailed list said they had it, the sales person said they had it, but the shelves said they didn't have it. Goose Island and Great Divide were others that didn't match the list I was emailed. Just dissapointed since I was coming from Connecticut and made it a point to fit a stop into my schedule.

Passing thru springfield, and a friend recommended that I stop by before heading home. Wow was I glad that I listened! Picked up some great offerings that either aren't available or are very rare in Oklahoma. Boulevard Smokestack Bourbon Barrel Quad, Rye on Rye, and Saison Brett sold out months ago in Oklahoma, so I was excited to see them all sitting on the shelf. Also picked up some Founders, O'Dell, Schlafly, and Great Divide. Could have spent hours and hundreds of dollars in this place. All of the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Honestly, the name of this place is a misnomer. While the wine selection is indeed abundant, so too is the beer selection. Better still, is Eric!

Go to Eric, tell him what style or particular flavor you have a taste for that evening, and Eric will give you some incredible options to fit your mood.

Eric being awesome aside, you quickly find out that the general demeanor of the whole staff is one where they love their job and they are eager to help out.

They have a terrific "wall of beer" if you are wanting to go for several different tastes or just want to try something new without going through an entire bomber if you absolutely hate it.

To date, this is probably the best find in Springfield if you are wanting awesome beer selection, helpful, happy staff, and all around beer greatness!

An amazing place! I could have spent hundreds of bucks on just singles of imports I've not been able to find and those I'd never heard of!
With my very limited beer-budget that weekend, I bought singles of Wychwood Hobgoblin, Weihenstephaner Korbinian, Tucher Bajuvator, Ayinger Celebrator, Samuel Smith's Stingo, and a sixer of Hofbräu Dunkel. We also found gourmet cheese and tea biscuits too!
I made a list of several beers that I wasn't familiar with, researched them on beeradvocate and made myself a long want-list for my next trip to Springfield.

Q- Well Brown Derby is pretty exclusive around here, but they have a fairly high standard. The stores, even the small ones, are always quite clean and organized. Easy to find what you want, and not a sty either.

S- Pretty damn good. I am NOT a wine-o, but the times that I have bought wine for other people or occasions the staff were more than happy to help me make a selection or to tell me about different wines (within reason). Also, pretty friendly and talkative.

Se- Awesome. Like before, wine isn't my thing but I imagine that they'll have whatever you want. HUGE selection of beer, from American Domestics to the uncommon and some rare imports and craft beers. I like the build your own six pack section, although it can be a bit pricey depending on what you pick.

V- Usually pretty cheap, depending on what you get. I say a bit pricey because it just depends on what you're looking for. Usually beers are pretty reasonable, I kind of wish there was a better deal for building your own six pack than a skimpy $1 off, but you can't have everything.

Brown Derby IWC is easily accessible from I-44, US65 or SH360 off of S. Glenstone Ave. in Springfield, MO. The Brown Derby's date back from the 1930's, but from understanding... this location has only been for 15 years or so. During that time, they accumulated accolades out the wazoo for wines & service. Upon entering, the place can be a little overwhelming & particularly hard to navigate with a shopping cart (which you'll need!). Just keep to the right & back for beer. This place has a lot to offer, as many have mentioned. I especially like the cheese selection and usually shop for something good to go with the beers. Lots of glassware too! Speak of selection... OMG!!! This has to be the beer mecca of SW MO with a selection that rivals any in the state. Lots of cooler space with most of the doors devoted to imports & micro's. My major drawback with this place is the specialty/seasonal sixer & singles prices which are typically 10-15% higher than I've found in other comparable locations in the state. I'd recommend shopping around if you're buying cases. This is a definite must for any beer lover who finds themself in the city for business, pleasure, or just passing through. Ask for Eric the Good, as he's the man in the know!

Stopped in 2/12 on way to visit Family in Central Missouri. Was skeptical at first, very froo froo and all cutesy kitchen/bar gear up front. Aisles and aisles of wine - pushing the champagne for Valentines. Salesman quick to assist. Walked me to the back wall which was all refrigerated beer - very good selection of both 6pks and singles. There were a few on my list that they didn't have, but he was able to fill me in on where to get or if only available at brewery. Good beer knowledge in a wine dominated environment. Let me know what they were anticipating in next few weeks. Lots of Missouri and Midwest brews - Boulevard, Schlafly, O'Fallon, Odell, as well as several good Southern Tier (Hoppe). Directed me around the corner to an aisle of non refrigerated beers. Again, good selection of Midwest beers, but AMAZING selection of Belgian/European brews - Mikkeller, etc... Got about a dozen large limited edition bottles (Boulevard Saison Brett, Schlafly Grand Cru) and 3 six packs (Wheach and Schlafly) for $114. Will certainly return. Oh, and I got the cutest oven mitt you ever saw...

It is a clean and upscale store with a friendly staff that is constantly walking the aisles looking to help someone. It is more of a wine store than anything but it has a good selection of liquor and other spirits. There is a lot of gourmet food and oddly enough even fancy baby stuff. The most important thing at least to me is the beer area. They have tow medium sized aisles and a corner of the store that sells pricy single. There is also a wide selection of beers in the cooler. The have a lot of Mid Western beers and the best selection of imports in this area that I have seen. That is not including KC and St. Louis. They are a bit pricey though. This store also has beer tastings and events like an Oktoberfest.

The place was very nice overall. Mostly centered on wine, but a pretty big beer selection. Both in coolers, mix-a-six pack, and shelf beer. The service was friendly and helpful, but not very informative other than on their inventory. Large store with aisle upon aisle of liquor. Well lit, clean, wood flooring. I was impressed mostly with the grandeur of the store. The major downfall was the price of the beer. I mean holy cow! They had individual bottle up to $18 a pop and they were only 12 ounce domestics. The six packs were all 10-30% higher than the average price all throughout Missouri. None of the beer was out of date and there was a good selection of beer. Not as big a selection as I've come across (pales in comparison to Arena in Columbia, MO and Corral Liquor in Granite City, IL).

What a great place. They have a huge space, filled with all kinds of beer, wine and liquor. All brands of beer you could think of: local, craft, imports, specialties, seasonals, and not a Budweiser to be found. Rogue, New Belgium, Schlenkerla, and a bunch of singles soon filled the basket.
I could have easily spent my entire yearly beer budget on stuff I have never seen before. There was also a good selection of glassware. Prices might be a bit high side, but worth it for the selection and quality (but still way below Canadian prices).
In addition to the great beer selection, they have a huge selection of other specialties: cheese, chocolate, baking, we spent an hour wandering around. Picked up some hot sauce and BBQ rub to go with our beers.
A must stop for next time.
