This is one of 3rb's X beers. Higher alcohol bigger kick. Picked up a growler and went home so there would be no ? of dwi. They tout this one as double barrel because your going to get hit twice as hard by both the hops and malt.
Poured from growler into samuel smith pint.
A-Dark Amber-Red with 1/4 cream head that settled in to 1/8" ring. Showed decent lacing.
A-First you get a floral hops smell and then some citrus notes. Then some sweet malt smell comes through. You can tell it's going to be high in alcohol.
T- You get hit with a hops (80 ibu)top note then a alcohol kick. Storng malt undertones show up. In the end you really taste how strong this ale is. I questioned if the abv is really as low as 8.2.
M- This has a medium mouthfeel with good carbonation for the style.
D- Strong, flavors and etoh. I wish I could have some bottles to age because I think many maore good flavors would come through with a little aging, or if stuck in a bourbon barrel it would really turn into something great.
I think they are on the right track.
