Pours a cloudy brown color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, chocolate, hint of roasted malt, bread, slight alcohol, and slight sawdust. Fits the style of an English Barleywine. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with a low carbonation level. There is an elevated dryness. Tastes of sweet malt, caramel malt, hint of roasted malt, bread, alcohol, hint of esters, and a hint sawdust. Overall, good appearance, complexity, and feel, with a decent aroma and body.

**1-1/2 years old, bottles 6-29-16**
L: pours light brown, pretty thick with only a film of head. Lots of floaters in the glass.
S: decent barrel right away with faint caramel and raisins
T: still a bit hoppy, but mostly smoothed out. Some caramel covers raisins flavors but limited, it's too bad.
F: a bit of a dry finish, medium thickness with a decent coating.
O: a decent babw, makes me appreciate the better ones.

For a 10.5% barrel aged beer that also tilts the cash register @10.99 per 12oz bottle this is bit thin for my expectaions in a barleywine of this caliber but still good.

Taste is nice I get the sweet , the malty, and bourbon influence at the end but lacking, not much dark fruits like raisin that I expect in a barleywine, this falls more into the Old Ale category in my opinion.

Look is Hazy like a New England IPA, Light Amber

Smell is there, the rich sweet aroma you expect in this style.

Way overpriced @10.99 a 12oz. bottle locally, outclassed by 100 laps compared to the greatness of Goose Island BCBW @ 20.99 a 4 pack, and can't land a KO punch on Weyerbacher's Insanity @13.99 a 4pack. Really wonderfull brew but never again unless they lower the price to around 9.99 a four pack.

Lots of bourbon barrel coming through on the nose and the taste, but balanced with the other flavors. I wasn't expecting too much but am pleasantly surprised.

L: reddish brown with an irregular and short lived head, despite carbonation bubbles continuing on. One of the weirder beer pours I've seen. Sediment in the glass.
S: I'm getting caramel, toffee, and the like. Good sweet smell with no overwhelming barrel character
T: sweet but not overly so, some vanilla and hops, with a bitter finish. This barleywine is a hoppier one normally, so I'm not surprised with the hops and bitterness.
F: despite having no head, still has a fuzzy carbonated feel to it. For a barrel-aged beer I'd prefer something less carbonated and more viscous.
O: not bad, but not great. I have another one that I'm going to sit on for at least a year and let the hops fade and the feel to be smoother. I really like how their 2013 regular barleywine is drinking now, so I'm thinking this beer might be better with 2-3 years on it
