On tap at GBD in DC. Part of the Zymatore project, this version of the beer was aged in Calvados (brandy) Barrels.

Light in color with a very white head. The aromas, although not too strong, were of tart lemon and apple. The taste is what really made this a great beer. There was a refreshing tartness that blended with a lot of rich complexity from the barrel aging...some oak and liquor.

This was described as an 'Imperial Witbier.' I'm not usually a big fan of wheat beers, but other than the light color, I never would have guessed this was a wheat beer.

Before reviewing I'll state my summation of this beer: pretty good, thought the barrel aging (not sure of the exact name of process) added a little bit of extra tartness and smoothness to beer, real similiar to the regular De Glazen Toren. Poured a clear golden body with minor head and lace. Aroma has some classic witbier notes like citric fruit and spice and there's a sour edge to the beer. Similiar to smell, tge beer is light bodied and smooth, easy to drink, with that pronounced citric and yeast/wheat twang with strong carbonation. Smoother than most witbiers but also has some really tart, sour, elements as well, almost white wine-ish, and finishes with a sour edge. Very nice beer to relax with.
