Pours bright, glowing orange with an everlasting rocky head. Fruit, caramel and smokiness in the nose, unusual. Pear and crisp wheat spars with peaty, smoke and some caramel malts. Hops are very light throughout. Low carbonation and a creamy medium to full mouthfeel. Leafy, herbal hops, pear and smoke in the long, off dry finish.

An Excellent take on a really old German style. Very balanced between the fruityness and rauchbier characteristics. A must try.

Wow! An interesting beer... Pours a hazy, golden-orange, with a puffy, white head. Aroma is dominated by peaty, smoked malt. Initial taste = slightly tart, wheat, crisp... Followed by intense smoked malt. Mouthfeel is medium; carbonation is low. Kind of an odd mix of flavors here - a bit much at first, but is not odd after a few sips.

Oh. Not what I expected. Looking for pear-y fruit goodness and I stead come up against a lightweight rauchbier. Looks like rough made app!e cider, hazy soft gold, so a good start. Moderate head settles to a film, just a bit of lacing. A little juiciness in the nose, but not the fruit I was expecting. Comes across as medicinal until you recognize the smoke. Eventuated by the wheat in the brew. Full and juicy mouthfeel upfront before drying out. Pears? No. Smokey malt, yeah, but not overwhelming. Drinkable, but not my fav style (rauch).

Pint bottle, poured into a shaker pint at ~50 degrees F.

Appearance: Pours a deeply cloudy straw gold, and forms virtually no head. What head does form is white bubbles, which vanish completely in short order.

Smell: Deliciously smoky, all charred wood over a base of semi-sweet wheat malt and some vague hints of light fruit.

Taste: Hardwood smoke and ash colors the entire tasting experience, overlaying the rest of the flavor profile with shades of fire and char. Beneath the smoke, a light wheat malt base forms a somewhat crackery-toasty backbone, amidst which notes of salt, white grape, pear, apple bark, and something akin to bell pepper swirl by. At the finish, the smoke recedes just enough to allow a brief burst of concentrated salt and black pepper through, ere settling into a wood smoke aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Just this side of completely flat, with an almost oily creamy weight that breaks down towards watery at the very end of each sip.

Overall: A delightful smoked light wheat beer, with just a hint of mineral saltiness. I approve, and will repeat.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, apricot, pear, apple, light banana/clove, wood smoke, salt, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, herbal, grass, light pepper, and smoke/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of bready/smoked malt, earthy hops, and fruity/spicy yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, apricot, pear, apple, light banana/clove, wood smoke, salt, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, herbal, grass, light pepper, and smoke/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness and tangy wheat tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, apricot, pear, apple, light banana/clove, wood smoke, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, and herbal/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready/smoked malt, earthy hops, and fruity/spicy yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/tartness/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and slightly saline mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice smoked wheat beer style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of bready/smoked malts, earthy hops, and fruity/spicy yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. This was not lactic sour at all as I would expect for the labeled style, but it is a very enjoyable offering as a smoked weizen style.

Abraxxxas has a medium, cream-colored head, a very cloudy, unfiltered, golden appearance, and heavy lacing left behind. When the bottom caked sediment is swished and poured in, a gray cloud descends into the beer. Aroma is of mild smoke and pungent "beer aroma". Taste is of maraschino cherries, smoked malt, wheat, honey wheat bread, and no alcohol or bitterness. Some sourness is evident, but only in a sourdough way, so one would NOT think of this, I think, as a typical sour beer. Mouthfeel is medium, and Abraxxxas finishes semi-dry and easy drinking. Quite the interesting beer, this.
