I was hoping for more and I was let down.

It's a nice looking place from the outside, not at all what you might expect of a beer distributor - it could have been a dental office in a past life, who knows!?

As you enter there are a few coolers with cold six-packs and just a handful of single bottles on the left - they're really not even worth looking at. The Giant Eagle offers four times as many options as far as six packs go, and twenty times more singles.

They do have a large selection of craft cases though, and they're pretty good with imports as well. But as someone has already pointed out, not all of the beer here is fresh. It doesn't look like the usual warehouse beer distributor because it's not, they're small and they're not moving that much beer. There were several cases that I looked at and thought I'd but but when I checked the date I was surprised and changed my mind. I walked out empty handed, however I will admit that I was really more interested in buying singles or six-packs, and now that the laws have been changed I'm surprised that they haven't done anything to increase that side of their business - it would certainly help them to move older product.

One additional note, although it's not legal to allow smoking inside (PA Act 27 of 2008) there was an older gentleman wandering around doing so. It appeared that the staff seemed to know him and was fine with it, and for all I know he might have been the owner! Regardless, I felt it was ignorant to break the law for such a simple thing - how hard is it to go outside for a smoke? That left a bad taste in my mouth, physically and mentally.

This distributor has the biggest variety of beer in town. There are a lot of crafts and imports. However, the store is known to keep beer on the shelf way past its freshness date. Buyer beware . . . they will not allow you to return it if you discover the staleness after purchase. Nor do they discount beer that has become old. I made a mistake once and wound up with a case of Paulaner variety that had beer as much as 1.5 years past the due date.

As stated before, this is really the only decent beer distributor in town.

They have the usual, year-round suspects with a heavy PA representation including Penn, Stoudts, Lancaster, Yards, Weyerbacher. Troegs, Victory plus a few others from the region such as DFH and Clipper City and a standout set from Bell's. Not a whole lot of options outside of those unfortunately.

The owner is willing to special order if their distributors can get it (they work with Vecenie, so that opens a few doors). I recently got a variety case of Heavyweight and it seems their price on that was lower than in other places, from what I've heard, so maybe I'm sitting on a goldmine there.

Like I said, not a bad place, just not a great place.

Edit: I feel I need to update this review. I've been on the search for GLBC Nosferatu for a while and its been impossible to track down in western PA. Turns out Duquense can order it directly from the Pittsburgh outlet as they are one of their accounts. The owner was great about the whole thing, too! To that end, up go the service and selection values. Thanks Duquesne!

Duquesne is one of three distributors in Indiana, the rest being crap. This is the only one that has any selection of micros, and this one has a nice selection too. The place basically looks like a garage with beer in it. The people are nice enough, but don't know much about the beers themselves. The beer selection is really good. Victory, Troeg's, Stoudt's, Yards, Penn and other locals. I just picked up the Yards Variety pack, Bell's Porter, and Clipper City Oxfor Raspberry. Their prices are also the best in the area. If you're in Indiana, PA (which you shouldn't be) - this is place to get some cases.
