Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.30%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
This double IPA has twice the hops and grains as its counterpart. Significant floral, citrus, and peppery notes on the nose, yet even with the enormous hop profile, the huge grain bill results in a very well balanced brew.

I got 2 liters of this delicious beer with my Hopsy delivery. Beautiful complexity with a great mouth feel. I'm going to need to take a trip to Fairfax.

Another imperial ipa hitting those auburn and amber color notes. 1/2" white head. Aroma was very nice, possibly Amarillo in here.

Taste was nice, malts were of a toastier nature rather than thick and sticky caramel. Hops were good, maybe Simcoe, C hops noticeable/perceived. Solid ibu range probably around 75. Grapefruit and onion makes me think maybe even Summit hops. Toffee, tea, herbal feels.

Bomber format sucks, but I don't think these guys do anything in 6 packs for some reason.

This is my neighborhood brew. I'd put it up against Pliny. One of the best doubles out there

Nice smooth IPA. Notes of pineapple on the finish.

Current label is totally different that shown here.
$ 7.00/22 oz bottle + $ 2.68 shipping = $ 0.44/oz from Blackwell’s Wines and Spirits, SF CA
Bomber bottled 9/1/15 at 39 degrees into JK hand washed and dried snifter
Aroma – very coniferous
Head average (two cm, aggressive pour), off white, creamy with rocks, diminishing to five mm frothy head and rocky partial layer
Lacing good – wide partial rings of tiny bubbles
Body medium orange, cloudy
Flavor definitely not piney, rather kind of tropical with a hint of both onions and sweat, slight bitter after taste; no malt, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate – medium, watery, lively carbonation

On-tap at Mikkeller Bar, San Francisco, CA

A: The beer is crystal clear amber in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high off white head that consistently left lots of lacing on the surface and down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrusy hops—oranges seem to stand out in particular—are present in the nose along with hints of caramel malts.
T: The taste is more complex than the smell, having flavors of orange and grapefruit citrus and spicy hops along with some hints of caramel and toffee malts and notes of piney hops, the latter of which lingers into the finish.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a solid Double IPA. The only things that are a little detracting is that the mouthfeel lacks crispness and the alcohol starts to creep in towards the back end of the taste.

L: Pours hazy gold crowned by a 2” light cream colored clingy foam collar that slowly recedes over 4 minutes to a thin film.
S: Spicy, malty nose.
T: Big malt, melon, assertive hop citrus rind bitterness, lingering bitter malt flavors. F: Creamy, medium body and carbonation.
O: A big IPA with a nice balance of halt, hop and alcohol and a fulfilling bitterness.

A really nice Imperial from a very decent brewery. This beer tastes as good as it looks. Great floral/citrus hoppiness. Not sweet just bitter, in a good way, with nice dry finish. Tasted like it could have been fresher but was still quite good. Have not been disappointed, so far, by anything from this brewery.

Looks like a good beer. Coloring is a bright orange with a nearly perfect white head that has nice visible bubbles. Smell is slightly piney but not very aromatic for the style. Taste is also piney, with a bit too much malt on the end. It is a little bit on the syrupy side in the mouth and feels like it sticks on the way down.
