On tap at the brewpub. Poured into a pint glass. Comes in at 5.6%.

A-Pours an extremely dark brown. It has a small sandy head from a full pour. Little bit of lace is left in between sips.

S-Not surprisingly, lots of dark malt is apparent. It has a fairly strong aroma of roasted malt. The lactose sugar used also gives it a sweet smell that is in line with a milk stout. The cocoa nibs also impart a nice dark chocolate aroma.

T-It is both equal parts roasty and sweet. The cocoa nibs give it a nice dark chocolate flavor and the lactose sugar adds the sweetness. The roasted malt used also gives off some coffee flavors. The orange peel used really remains in the background.

M-Medium bodied with a nice level of carbonation. It finishes dry.

D-The nice balance of roast and sweet flavors work well together.

I enjoyed this beer. It was almost a hybrid of a brown ale, milk stout, and coffee porter. Quite good for a style that I typically pass up.
